Things are getting better

Quote  |  Reply

So challenges I have taken into my recoverey are

- I  can put peanutbutter, coconut and chocolate all on the same piece of toast or bowl of oatmeal and still eat more during the day

- I don't even consider the oil I use to cook my food in, such us when i caramilize onions, it doesn't total into the calories or fat i've eaten in the day

- when it comes to cereal (granola, puffs) im aloud to plonk as much as i want on my smoothies, yoghurt, excetra

- Im aloud to combine as many foods together. i've even put seaweed in a sandwhich with avacoad, chicken, soy suace and nautral yoghurt and veges and it turned out delicious! like sushi in bread...

- I'm not reading the recipies i want to cook anymore... im making them. I even made ghnocci from scratch and had to add on soooo much extra flour just to get the perfect dough but it was worth it!

- Im not spending as much of time wishing for things to happen, im actually making things happen and am making plans instead of planning to make plans

how have things been getting better for you?

The edited version looks a lot better.....

Awesome, Liney!  Keep up the good work.  I'm going to have to try that sushi sandwich...

grt work liney , keep in that positive energy mode h x

What things aside from food challenges related to your ed have you challenged?

I now eat when I am stressed or angry

I talk about the stress in my life and the things that are upsetting me and resolve them (not a lot of things upset me though) rather than taking the stress out on food

I eat foods with fat in them

I eat snacks and cheese!!

I try to communicate with my friends/family being open and honest about my needs and wants rather than not allowing myself to and then taking that frustration out on food

As you can see, a lot of my ed was due to family issues and hiding away my feelings about everything. Opening up about even the smallest things like how my day was at college, means that I dont have any unresolved issues that lead me to take my feelings out on food. Also, I can recognise my feelings and what they are about and now that they are nothing to fo with food, and therefore my body should not suffer.

thanks for the congratualtions guys.

driven, yeah when i went to sleep slast night im like... oh i only wrote about food!!, my doc has kinda established im food obsessed!!!! i can relate to recognising my feelings and how it hasn't to do with food, you just put it into words... marvelous

- i don't hide. i can open up to friends now and tell them how i feel

- i don't get as shy or embarrassed in public. I took a dance class and moved my hips so much without being self contious! even when im on my walks or runs if a good song comes on my mp3 i will literally start dancing in the street... be it a side street though.... :D.... can't not dance to We're all in this together aye...

- My sister and I are back to how we used to be. goofy! one day we were mucking around and straight after I just sat up and went back to my homework... she was like 'why do you do that?, can't you relax?'. now i can totally be a goof and stay that way for a while

- im starting to think less about me and more about others. by this i mean i don't protest as much when someone asks for help. and I also offer stuff. with ed i used to be so self centred and would claim everything as mine. (even bananas and yoghurt)

- i exercise for my fun and don't care how long it goes for as long as I have freedom, nothing is strenous anymore its all about enjoyment being free. its not about burning calories or challenging myself with the girl running across the road

- i don't need to see my doc as much anymore. it used to be weekly, now its basically monthly!

and the list goes on but there are so many improvements which im sure others can see in themsleves which i have probably faced too. cheers to everyone in recoverey who is doing a wonderful job!

Hi! I can see so much of my recovery in yours! I too don't count in the oil as much...I tell myself its healthy, normal, and tasty!

I eat candy almost whenever I want (only sugar candy, not chocolate yet)

I put milk in my coffee and don't measure it!

I don't wipe grease off of my pizza

I take larger bites

I don't measure things :)

sarahbear all that is awesome! haha i used to wipe off the grease too but it what makes it tasty....

i thought of more... i don't care if i post the most on this post...

- i don't care about the scales... i kinda wish i didn't have them

- i don't have to plaster a fake smile on my face anymore... smiling comes naturally and frequently for me now!

im able to eat more what i like rather than what the ed tells me

I dont weight cereals ill just like go into the kitchen and grad a handful same with milk i just drink avlid

I dont cut my crusts off

time dosent cause me as much panic as it did

i sleep better

i let my mum cook for me

i eat in public and it dosent bother me

losing weight dosent interest me things dont trigger me as much my determination to get better out ways everything

Tessa that's so great! Me too! I no longer cut off crusts...I've always loved them! I'll grab handfuls too, and time is becoming less of an issue, as is sleep, and everything else you said! So happy for all of you! Keep it going!

thanks sarahbear you to hx
