drink more water. 8-10 glasses a day increases your metabolism 3% and takes your mind off of eating heavy foods.

 Peace.

I do this all the time; I try to distract myself from it when I realize that I am thinking about food but not REALLY hungry. 9 times out of 10 I can figure out it's because I am upset, nervous, tired or bored. For the first two, I try to concentrate on solving what is really bothering me, or at least releasing some of the stress causing it. If I'm just bored, then I have a lot of choices.. but all of them should ideally take me AWAY from the food. Living in a tiny dorm room makes that hard-- still, stowing stuff out of sight really does help.

It may be time for you to develop some really passionate hobbies. :)

I am going through a lot of water and gum each day to help fight food cravings, retraining your body to want less or not seek it for pleasure is no easy task.
i find that i do this when im bored. If im busy and have somethign better to do, food becomes unimportant. Difficulty is i have a office based job where i sit around all day therefore it hard to keep my mind from wandering
its not that im craving it im just always thinking about.. i do drink tons of water and everythign and i eat very very healthfully. but my whole day revolves around my next meal and snakand what im gona eat. maybe its just cu zi plan everything in my head anyways. thanks!
I don't know what your stats are, or how much you at/don't eat, but obsession with food is sometimes the sign of disordered eating, or at least unhealthy obsessive thinking. Perhaps you should try and stay away from strict or rigid calorie counting for a while, to re-learn what normal thinking habits are like? Even seeing a counselor to discuss your concern, if it bothers you enough, might be wise.
