I was doing great today. I had a fiber one bar for breakfast & some mixed vegs for a snack & then my kids had a pb&j for lunch & I ate one also. IT WASN'T WORTH IT!!! Now I only have about 400 cals. for the rest of the day.

Any thoughts?

I seem to be doing SO good & then run the car in the ditch again.

How many calories were in the sandwich??

the bread was 120 cals., honey pbutter was 190 cals. & jelly about 70 cal. & I forgot to mention that I had a glass of 2% milk with it. I only have 1200 cals in a day.

I wouldn't 'punish' yourself too much or you will probably just make things worse.  Try to compensate by doing some exercise to help counteract the large amount of calories at one sitting.    Watch the calories for the rest of the day but don't starve yourself.  Even if you end up at 1500 calories you are probably still below what you burn for a day and it is only one day.

Good luck :)

You naturally burn 2200 calories a day. If you eat up to that amount, you won't gain; and that's assuming you don't workout. If you do workout, you can eat more than  2200 calories and still not gain. So there's no need to panic lady. Have a regular meal and enjoy it.

Thanks for the advice. I will just do better for the rest of the day. I wish you luck with your goals. Have a great day!

Like they all said, don't beat yourself up about it.  I'm sure we've all been in the same position before.  Have you ever tried PB2?  If you really like PB&J's, you could try the PB2 (only like 52 calories) and jelly on some light wheat bread and it'd be a lot less calories... just a thought.  :-)

definitly don't beat yourself up!

i too had a slip up a couple days ago: cheese and lots of nuts! afterwards i was so annoyed with myself i went rollerblading while listening to some heavy metal. it was an excellent vent to my emotions AND i ended up burning all the excess calories. so yeah.. whenever you overeat/are frustrated, convert your "binge" into a "pre-workout protein snack"!

hope that helps! ;)

Hi,

I just want to add that you should be careful not to go below 1400 calories.  I know 1200 will help you lose weight faster but in a very unhealthy way - TO YOUR MIND.

I was like you at one point, counting every calories, and if i go over my 1200 mark, i beat myself up.  I say awful things to myself that things you would not tolerate people say to one another.

Anyway my point is, i went from counting calories to binging.  However unlike counting calories, binging is NOT something you can bounce back from easily, it takes lots of help, and trust me, it is the most awful experience you will never want to go into.

Thanks to my son, i'm not bining any longer, now i am just bored and eat mindlessly.  I go over calories all the time, i just head to the gym and start a new day tomorrow, most importnatly i enjoyed the food i ate today, or else what's the point?? eating and feeling guilty is no way to live life.

Good luck

I heard somewhere once (and it could've very well been on an oprah episode) that if you're really craving something then you should eat it, even if it's ij moderation. Otherwise you'll eat 4 or 5 other things trying to fill the craving, which often causes you to eat more than you would have had you just eaten the inital thing to begin with.

I don't know if you were craving the PB&J sandwich or if you just ate it on a whim, but i think it's okay. If you feel really badly about it, though, next time you could eat 1/2 a sandwich instead of a whole one. Or, if you're only craving the peanut butter, eat some on a cracker or a banana. This way you can get the part that you wnat but cut the calories that you're consuming.
