i have decided lately that the pull back to my old eating disorder (anorexia) has been too strong. I was thinking of leaving this site because it encourages counting calories and the temptation to go down that road again is very strong. on the other hand, i know that this site has a weight maintance side as well. So it could be useful to make sure i am not loosing more weight then i should.
has anyone run into this problem? any advice or suggestions? I have been in recovery since leaving an inpatient program in 2006. Just have had some bumps along the way so I am not new to recovery.
I know I have to make the ultimate decision, just would like to know if others have had this problem or have had to do make this choice.

i have the exact same problem. i've made it a rule with myself that i'm not allowed to go to the calorie counting portion of the site right now; not until i can get a handle on this. the only part of the site i go to is right here, or some of the forums. in fact, after i log onto the site i put up my hand to the screen and cover where the calorie/exercise logs are. i can't even look at it without being triggered.
it is hard to be on here some times, because i still remember using it destructively. i think that being on this part of the site, where we can all safely talk about recovery, is AMAZING. however, i, and it sounds like you too, can not use the other parts right now. in the end, it's whatever you're comfortable with =]
I think it's something we all face! If you feel that it's in your best interest to leave, then by all means leave. Your well-being is what matters the most. You don't need this site to even help maintain your weight; there are ways to do that offline. I've had to leave the internet many times, once for a whole year, just to avoid the triggers of sites, even though they never promoted hurting myself. Those pressures can often come out of nowhere, it seems :(
Sometimes it's just what is best. If you feel like you are in danger of relapsing, then you should probably give yourself a break from sites like this.
i've used the calorie portion to let others know what i eat. my boyfriend has agreed to keep an eye on me. every time i dont log in a meal, he knows and can encourage me (in a supportive way) to eat. also it enables me to set goals, such as eating 1800 cal for a week, and getting to go on a trip, or go on a date.
Why do I get bad cramps after I eat?
Suspect lactose intolerance when abdominal cramps are a problem, especially after breakfast when milk products are consumed. Lactose... Read more
