Moderators: duke3522, devilish_patsy, topanga1485, nycgirl, spoiled_candy, cmillington, coach_k my third day on hoodia, i love it!!
I haven't lost any weight yet but it's only the third day...today i finished half a can of pasta..and had the other half for a later snack. It's almost 5 now and I've had a bout 400 cals. I'm gonna have one more small meal for dinner around 7. Then I plan on goin out for a couple drinks w/ friends. This stuff really has curbed my appetite and the green tea in it helps me feel a lot better and more energetic! I really hope by the ten days, I lose atleast 5lbs. No side effects at all..it's truly great
Is this Mega Green T with Hoodia?
no it's applied nutrition: 10 day hoodia diet. If it works well, I will probably rebuy it. So far it's helped a lot. However, I will say it also has green tea in it and natural caffeine. The caffeine doesn't seem to affect me at all but i suppose it depends on the individual. u take 3 pills a day. One pill for each meal with a tall glass of water. Most people say to take hoodia an hour before ur meal so that's what i usually do. The package says to take it with my meal but I don't think it really matters. Try it out! It's only 10 bucks. I wasn't gonna spend 50 bucks on the other ones and have them not work so i started with the cheapest brand that my friend said worked for him.
what i really like the best about it is that I'm a very visual kind of person. Even after I just have a meal if I see someone eat something that i like i can't say no. With hoodia people have been eating ice cream and pizza around me and I don't even crave it. I've been eating much smaller portions also. I haven't lose any weight yet but I figure it's too early to tell and also my body is probably not used to the calorie deficit yet.
- Hoodia is only active in it's fresh plant state. Once dried and in powder form, it's completely ineffective.
- Like mentioned before, the plant is protected. It is not harvested from where it grows and can not be in the pills you are taking.
- It's not FDA approved. So they could have anything in those pills you're taking. Scary!
fmjess,
now why did you go and say that? Have you ever heard of the placebo effect? If she believes that it works, then it will, wether actually does or not, so by you adding that bit of info on there your taking away her placebo effect...IF that is indeed what it really is, perhaps it really does work?
But even if it is taking away hunger, you still shouldn't eat too little, you don't want your body digesting muscle for energy. I am paranoid about that and very careful to keep my calories around 1600 a day.

I don't think that it's wrong to tell people they are taking something that could potentially harm them..... what if she was allergic to something in those pills? What if people start dropping dead left and right because of all the fake hoodia flying around? What if someone is charging her a LOT of money for these placebos?
I'd rather her know then not know :(

fmjess I think you totally did the right thing. I dont think its dangeorus but its a very bad idea to rely an a cruch to loose weight, in this case the placebic affects of Hoodia.
Placebo affects are only ever temporary. Pull out the cruch and you'll fall on your face.

I take Hoodia sometimes too! I read about it in the book "You On A Diet". The doctor talks about a study done on Hoodia, where those taking it ate about 1000 calories less than others. I trust his opinion that Hoodia is safe, and a tool that people trying to lose weight can use. I use it to keep my appetite in check, so I can eat below 2000 calories. If you want I can type in word for word what Dr Oz says in the book. Oh- by the way, after the 1st week your appetite returns somewhat. The first week I struggled to eat 1200 calories, but now i try to eat 1600-1800 cals a day.

I started researching hoodia after reading fmjess's comments. I, myself, have never taken and would never take a drug of this type, but it shocked me to read your comments, fmjess. That hoodia is a hoax, but it seems to be true. The site above says that the makers of Hoodia are "Cutting their bulk materials with silica, leaves, sawdust and other filler products that provide bulk, but no active ingredients". EW Sawdust?? What will that do to you?? I think it also said that the same company provides the whole hoodia supply and just runs under different names. Where did OP go? Hopefully she will read these posts!

To be honest, I read up on it for almost a year before taking it and after my friend experienced a cheap hoodia drug for himself, I decided to take it. There are a lot of people claiming hoodia works and hoodia doesn't work. Who knows what is true but for people to claim that it does or doesn't work are just condoning the bandwagon mentality. Experiement for urself. The product I take is only 10 dollars. If u don't like taking diet pills that's fine don't take it. For those who might want to experience it,then let them. There are people who take drugs to lower blood pressure but no one tries to research the side effects of those drugs. Any drug can affect u. So whoever says they're against diet drugs, i have nothing against it but at the same time taking sleeping meds, meds to decrease ur period pains or cholesterol are just as bad. I'm trying this drug because it's cheap and so far it has no side effects, it is merely a trial. I dunno, for those who are bitter and angry for not losing weight or just because they read some random article, good for them. There are hundreds of articles proving hoodia wrong and proving it right but please don't say that it's psychological, I'm not force feeding it down anyone's throats. For a long time I didn't use hoodia because I was just like many of u who were skeptical. I bought a 10 dollar product as a trial and all I'm saying is so far it's working. It's been 4 days and I don't know how long placebo effects last but so far I still don't feel as hungry as I used to. I guess everyone is different. I hear a lot of posts about alli on this forum. Psh, although it is FDA approved, I would never touch that stuff. Any pill that makes a person go to the bathroom etc. sounds like ur losing weight from the laxative effect anyways. Atleast, whether or not hoodia works, I'm not crapping in the bathroom for 8 hours to get food out of my system. I'm still living a healthy caloric lifestyle as well. :)
Sorry. Didn't mean to make you feel bad. <:( And I, personally, didn't mean to bash you or what you are doing. Just putting the information out there...what I read just surprised me, that is all.
actually i wasn't really addressing u on the forum, it was the other fmjess or whatever...Everyone just has different experiences with hoodia and I just think u can't knock something until u've tried it. And if someone doesn't want to try it that's fine but then they cannot just find stuff on the internet opposing it and then state that it is ineffective.
Sorry, but I don't "experiment" with my body. It's the only one I've got. I prefer to learn how to take care of it properly, so that I'll be healthy for life.
If I need to suppress my appetite, I just drink a big glass of cold water. That holds me off until meal time, and it's free.

I agree with you Miss Claire. Just because something is an herb doesn't make it safe. My thought is it is better to learn how to eat healthy day after day after day. If I lean on a pill my knowledge of eating healthy doesn't improve. When we lose weight our fat cells shrink, they don't just disappear. That means those fat cells can swell up again if we fail to eat healthy.
Companies are profiting off us when we eat there processed crap and when we purchase there diet pills or foods. Also, the agrument of taking blodd pressure pills from some one on the thread doesn't really hold up. If one is at a healthy weight and eating a balance diet they may not need the meds. Lots of ailments can be controlled with proper diet and exercise. Diabetis type 2, some mental illnesses, high blood pressure and sugar can all be controlled or be considered borderline with people putting some thought into what they chose to put in there bodies.

Of course they can. And if the information they have found on the internet is based on reputable studies that demonstrate the ineffectiveness of hoodia, so much the better.

Well I suppose everyone is different. I happen to like taking hoodia and as far as 'reputable' sources, the internet isn't exactly the place to offer a slew of reputable sources. If it were then most college classes would allow sources off the internet but they don't and it's for a reason. A lot of the sites pro hoodia may be false but a lot of the sites anti hoodia could have a bias reason for being 'anti hoodia.' Everytime a hoodia based pill gets insulted almost half the time it's another competing company that wants to sell their product. I'm not saying hoodia works for everyone nor am I forcing it down people's throats, however, a lot of u guys are taking this a little to personally..lol if I want to try a diet pill and it's working, it's definately my choice and whoever else is interested, all i said is that it's worth a try. ;)
My curiosity, is what about when you reach the weight you want, and you stop taking the Hoodia pills, what's keeping your appetite from ramping back up and eating a lot of food again?
If appetite is the problem, then perhaps there's a better way to curb it than becoming dependent on a drug to do it for you?
And how are you sure its not the placebo effect curbing your appetite?
One thing you should know, is that Hoodia is a protected plant. In order to export it, the company must retrieve a CITES permit from South Africa. Ask the company you are buying the pills from to see a copy of the permit to verify that you are in fact getting real hoodia.
