I thought I was doing perfect: Exercizing, Eating right, having 1200 - 1600 calories a day. i still kind of think I am, im just not fully sure.

Accounting to CC i burned 2771 calories today. I ran for 1 hour no breaks, I played 30 minutes for light tennis, and I went for an hour walk. Anyone know how much calories I accually burned? In between all this I sat on my butt, well, basically. I ate 1396 calories, and if CC is right I burned in total 1375 calories. I read in someone elses post you should never burn more than 1200 calorie. I am basically in a platuoe right now. I have no idea what to do.

Before I started eating right 2 weeks ago, I didn't eat more than 400 or 500 calories a day and I started eating more when I almost fainted. I lost 20 pounds in those 2 weeks. I am a BMI or 27.6 and that is overweight. i am 160 pounds and 5" 4'.

Thx CC!

How long has this plateau been lasting?  If it's only a week or two, don't worry about it.  Also, try switching up your pure cardio exercise regimen and add some strength training.

Thanks for the advise, I guess I can take out my 5 pound weights and use them I just dont know how many calories that will burn. Anyone know if push ups and sit ups are effective as strength training?

ur eating 1400 calories and u burned 1375 from exercise alone... that's gonna put u in starvation mode in itself. But on top of that ur exceeding ur 1000 calorie deficit. If you don't know what the means, it means u shouldn't eat too little where u've eaten where there's more than 1000 calorie difference. that was confusing i know. basically, u say C said u burned 2771. That means u should be eating between 1771 and 2771. and less and ut body doesn't want to lose weight cuz it thinks it dying. also, treadmills usually have the option of putting in ur weight before u start and telling u how many calories u burn so that doesn't mean CC's 1 hour calorie count for treadmill is calculated at the same speed u went. a speed of 6 is moderate to me but to some people i know 6 can be hell. and using ur body as strength training resistance is the easiest and cheapest way to get lean and strong. best part is u can do it anywhere and anytime.

Btw my exercize was only 700 and some. the rest was what calorie count said. I just dont trust what cc says I am burning. 1200+700=1900 thats what I would think I burned because 1200 is basic body functions. If I make it the childs minimum 1500+700=2100. Ok maybe its right. I just don't know.

Thx.

My advice is this:  Go to this

link and figure out what your basal metabolic rate is.  Your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is the amount of calories you would burn if you just stayed in bed all day and did absolutely nothing.  (But remember that even a person who sits at a desk all day will actually burn more than this number--this is just for basic bodily functions.)  Without knowing how old you are, I'd guess your BMR is somewhere around 1500.  Whatever that number is, you NEVER want to eat lower than that number.  Period.  Even if you don't exercise at all, you should eat at least this amount.

Also, for optimal weight loss, you should try to stay with an *overall* deficit of 500-1000 calories.  When figuring out the amount of calories you burn in a day on CC, I recommend setting your activity level to "sedentary" on CC and then logging in any extra exercise you do (such as your running).  A sedentary person burns 1.2 times their BMR each day (it is higher than the BMR because sitting takes more energy than laying down, plus things like walking to the bathroom, etc. add in extra too).  So, let's say your BMR is around 1500, then the amount of calories you'd burn if you sat around most of the day would be roughly 1800.  Then, adding in the extra 1375 from exercise, and you get something like 3100.  That means that for optimal weight loss, you should be eating between 2100 and 2600 calories.  The 1375 estimate for exercise calories does sound a tad high, but it depends on how fast you were running/walking and how hard you were playing tennis.  But I'd say you easily burned 1000 calories.  (2.5 hours of exercise is a lot!) So at a minimum, your calorie intake should have been 1900.

Sounds to me like your deficit is just too big and you should try eating a bit more.  I'd also recommend swapping out some of the aerobic activity for some serious strength training.  You can get some really good results that way.  Good luck!
