Some Thoughts.....Taking Care of Ourselves

Quote  |  Reply
This week I attended a presentation about Wellness.  Overall health.  It was interesting.  One of the things the presenter mentioned was that for most people we take better care of our cars then we do ourselves.

How many of us are faithful about getting our oil changed every so many miles, etc.  When the tires get bad - we get new ones.

Why don't we take care of our bodies with this determination?

We only get one.

What we do to it now  - we will eventually pay for.

Thinking...

This is so true salome. So many people take care of their everything better than they take care of themselves. Like their families and their friends. Sometimes you need to step back and be a bit selfish and take care of yourself.
I also personally think that women tend to make sure everyone is taken care of before they take care of themselves.  Sometimes there is no time to get back to taking care of ourselves.

We need to make time.
very true -

jeff, on the kicka$$ team wrote a motivational statement about exactly that...

I wonder if I can find his statement....

Found it!

WEEK 2 PART 7

Motiviational Post:   Why do we take better care of our cars than ourselves?  Have you ever thought about that?  We make sure our cars are in great running condition to get us back and forth to work, errands, and fun events.  We put top grade (and expensive fuel) in our cars and we NEVER add anything in our gas tanks that would make our cars run sluggish.  We check the oil in our cars and make sure that everything is working properly.  And if there is a problem, we take them to the mechanic for repair.

What about our bodies?  Do we put in the best fuel everydy so we can enjoy ourselves at work, running errands, or doing fun things?  Do we eat food that makes us sluggish and slows us down during the day?  Do we get regualr check ups BEFORE something goes wrong?  We can't go and trade ourselves in for a new model...  But we can get healthy and have our old model running AND LOOKING like a new one.  Let's take care of ourselves and quit putting on the brakes.  Are you ready to fly down the road with the wind blowing in your hair and sun shining on your face as you accelerate the gas pedal of life?  It's up to you.  Start your engine!   Jeff
Thanks Nomore!   Exactly.  Great Post Jeff!
*g* Yes, good post Jeff :)
I'll be honest.  I don't take care of my car until it actually stops working.  And I do the same with my body.

It's definitely something to think about.  I clearly don't invest of either of them.
bah! Now I'm depressed. I do a lousy job taking care of my car.
