Good question.
I also have a question about the calorie coach, namely, where does it gets it values from? What's the formula?
On my goals it says I can reach my target by February 2008, but then the calorie coach tells me it aint gonna happen till 2010. I can't find any info in the help. Please advise.
I'm copying and pasting this from another post. Sorry for being lazy! I didn't mention this before, but I am fairly certain the coach has nothing to do with your daily caloric intake, but rather your overall weight log only. Could be wrong though! ;)
From what I understand, the coach bases everything from your past history. So yes, if your recent history is that your weight is going up, then you will probably get a thumbs down, regardless of whether it was a temporary and perfectly reasonable reason. :)
Same goes for the goal dates. If you recently have plateaued or just lost .25 per week, it will calculate your goal based on the recent activity. If you just started and so are losing 3-4 a week, which we all know isn't sustainable as you get closer to goal, it will project that you will keep losing at that rate, and say that you will meet goal in an unreasonably fast time frame.
It's just meant to give you a snapshot based on current activity. :) I think we can all see it's not foolproof! But, it's still nice to have the snapshot, whether as an affirmation or a reality check
Aha! Okay that totally makes sense. I suspected that might be the case. Very good. 2010 is sooo far away, but since it is really just estimating my own performance in weight loss I can live with that and it does provide some extra insight.
