Or better known as stretch marks. Does anyone have secrets on how to minimalism the look of them? I got some serious ones going down the side of my thighs.
well i have some stretch marks on my lower stomach that are white now and practically invisible. It took a couple of months before i noticed them starting to fade. At the time i was drinking lots of H2O, using jergens firming lotion, and eating lots of fruit and vegetables. Soo im not really sure what did the trick....it could have just been the time.
Cocoa butter is a great moisturiser and helps even out the appearance if stretch marks quite a bit.
I don't thinik they ever really go away though....I feel your pain! I have a ton on my inner thighs
I have them all over my stomach and down the backs of my knees... I knew I was in for them after getting heaps on my hips when I was a teen...
I haven't found anything that has helped them to fade or disappear, but applying body lotion to them seems to help them feel softer.
Love the name tiger marks! Much nicer than when my little 'un said quite casually I looked like a zebra... ![]()
haha, tiger marks sound sexier. I use Avon firming lotion and don't feel like it minimalizes their appearance plus it has some self tanner in it. Thanks for the replies though!
I use Bio-Oil for mine and they seem to be less obvious. Also used it on an old scar and that is also less prominant. I can't say they are actually going, but by massaging every day, they do seem to be fading...
Also love teh 'tiger marks' comment.... much better!!
Good luck!
There is a product in the US called Stri-Vectin. It is expensive and has to applied a couple times a day but did help mine fade faster. (in saying that, they came back again for me now that i am pregnant again... so I don't feel it was money well spent!) There is also new (expensive again) lazer treatments that select spas do to minimalize them.
I don't think that there is anything that completely gets rid of them.
Check out pregnancy forums....... you are bound to find more ideas!
Palmers has this new oil that is for stretch marks, dry skin, etc. i have been using it on my stretch marks on my thighs for only a few days so it hasn't been long enough to see results there but i used it on my nasty dry elbows (lol) and it worked wonders. it is an oil not a lotion but it doesn't feel nasty and it dries pretty fast. its about ten dollars a bottle and i found it in target but it seems totally worth the price. should definitely check it out
Oh, speaking of other names for them (I know off topic lol) I just remembered that when I met my bf (through a dating site), we'd been emailing a while and for some reason were discussing our bodily hangups... to make him laugh I told him I had wicked scars all over my tummy from being attacked by a shark and strewn from side to side... kind of backfired tho when I discovered the one thing he's terrified of is... sharks! Now I just tell him I look like europa... well makes me feel better
but he still says I'm beautiful and everybody has them...
lol that is an awesome story.
Yeah I'm wondering this too. I have them from when I went through puberty. One morning I woke up with boobs and hips. Stretch marks all over my inner thighs, on my hips, and breasts. Once someone from school asked what happened, why were there scars all over my hips? It was so embarassing. They've faded to white but my skin is already so pale...they look awful. One of you mentioned laser treatments. Any idea if that works beyond making them faded?
Ugh I totally feel your pain meowphotog. ![]()
Yea, I'm really pale too and I was sitting in sunlight the other day and I was like "HOLY CRAP! My thigh looks like a map of rivers!" I need to tan, maybe that will minimize them too
Science sadly has not found a way to get rid of stretch marks, even though 80% of women have them. Most women see them first during puberty, and again pregnancy (and in between if there is extreme and/or rapid weight loss or gain). There is NO evidence that Cocoa Butter works on existent stretch marks, but proper mosturization and hydration (consumption of water) can help lessen the instance of them due to pregnancy.
Getting a tan will not help, and actually make it worse due to the fact that the stretched skin will not respond to UV light. If they are reddish purple you can purchase OTC creams to lighten them, but if they are silvery, there isn't much you can do. Self tanner can help blend them in with the rest of your skin.
They really are just a part of life.
when I say tan I mean, sunless tanner. lol You won't find me in a tanning bed or booth any time soon. That's just not my style.

Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
