Time for a change!

Quote  |  Reply

I am new to this and am kinda nervous!  I have never really talked in a forum, but I thought this may help me with my weight loss journey!  I am 25 and have two kids, I didn't gain my weight with them it was after them.  I am at my ultimate high which is 252.  I am tired of feeling bad for myself!  I decided today that I need to change and do something about it.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!  Thanks very much.

Hello and welcome to CC.  It's a good resource so spend plenty of time having a look round and checking out the tips and hints sections.

Main way you lose weight is by liking yourself, eating good foods, watching the portions (or counting the calories) and being more active.   It shouldn't be complicated and, if you play your cards right, it should be quite enjoyable and rewarding.

I'd suggest you start by keeping your CC food log for a few days so that you can understand where the bulk of your calories are coming from.  It should highlight if there are any bad habits as well.  The sheer act of keeping a food diary often makes people eat less..... we eat less when we're conscious of the amounts we eat.   Seeing if you can get closer to an 'A' average for your food choices as a next step.... five portions of vegetables, plenty of wholefoods, home cooking rather than packets or takeaways.   Simple improvements that can have a big effect.

After you've spent some time checking your current diet and improving it, then have a look at the CC calculator and work out what intake you need to lose weight.  With good food choices, fewer calories goes a lot further.  The more active you are, the bigger the allowance you get and the quicker the weight will come off.

Good luck and keep posting.

Welcome to CC!! there are tons of resources here to help you. Explore the different tabs at the top of the page. Search the recipes section to get great ideas for lunch and dinner...so that you can constantly switch up your eats and stay excited about the process.

Prior to all that I would suggest you logging your food to get a general idea of how many calories you REGULARLY take in to maintain your current weight and base your calorie goals for weight loss off of that number. This is more accurate than using an online calculator to determine your calorie goals.

I would suggest finding an activity that you actually ENJOY and would do regardless of whether you were trying to lose weight. This will make the process more enjoyable and you're more likely to stick with it. of course, walk everywhere!! If you are in a waiting room and know that it will take a while then walk around the facility, if you're at the grocery store and the parking lot is full don't wait for the person to pull out of the spot in front...just drive to the far end of the lot. Carry your handbasket while shopping!! Do mini sets of exercises while your food is cooking. Maybe a set of 10 squats or 10 crunches. EVERYTHING COUNTS!!

GOOD LUCK AND WELCOME!!!

Im glad you made the decision to lose weight. I am also new to this site and started my weight loss journey last week. I am a mom of 3 and am also at my all time highest weight and made the decision to change my lifestyle.
