Time to drop some pounds
Over the past few years I have gained A LOT of weight. I have gone from being a little overweight to nearly obese. I have a hard time finding time to workout, and eat right.
I have a food scale and measuring cups and not to mention the Mountain I have behind my house and its now Spring.
I was wondering what other people do to stay motivated to drop the weight. I have a hard time sticking with anything even though I know that I would be happier with myself if I dropped the weight. Lets just say my body image is such I don't go shopping for clothes, I usually get stuff from friends and out of the free clothing bins. This way I can save myself the reality of my figure and weight problem.

I have been coming to CC for 1.5 months and this sight is a great motivator just reading other peoples stories and knowing they are going through the same things as you .Log your calories every day do some exercise 3 or 4 times a week and you 'll be amazed at the results. good luck keep motivated!!!!
My main motivator is this saying I heard someone here on CC say:
"Nothing tastes as good as thin feels"
~H~
Haley, that is the quote I live by! (diet wise hah) Because really, it is so true.
Denise, try to stay focused. Whether you are just a little overweight or obese, the goal in the end is health. (and of course confidence in your skin)
This comes not only from dieting, but from changing your whole mindset. Believe people when they say it is a lifestyle change. You probably will mess up some days, but pick yourself up right there and start again. (I struggle with this).
Remember, this site is full of people in the same situation as you. I love the support I get from the people here. We are all aiming towards the same ultimate goal! Good luck!
Denise,
My advice is to log what you eat, take a little bit of time each day to exercise, and in no time at all you'll see results.
A friend of mine here at work has a hard time finding time to exercise, so she gets up a little earlier before her son and puts in a workout video and does that each day for 15-20 minutes. Add to that she's watching what she eats too, and so far has had success.
As for me, I am logging what I eat, and only eat when I'm hungry. At the moment, I'm taking my time eating my lunch here at my desk at work.
You can do it, if you believe you can do it, anything is possible.
Good luck!!!

hey denise!
the best motivator in the world is to begin seeing results.
i started working out once a day, or sometimes every two days for about a month. this combined with watching my calories made a drastic difference in how i look, and more importantly, how i feel.
you just have to start! keep reading everyone elses stories, you'll find you're not as alone as you think in your struggle. plus ive found that everyone here wants to help as much as they can, so the people here really make a motivational difference.
good luck! keep us posted =)
Denise, it sounds like you're in denial. It's like spending a lot of money and then being afraid to check your bank account because you don't want to know how bad it is. Not knowing doesn't magically change the fact. You need to weigh yourself, probably daily, at least weekly so that when you see the number you can be motivated to change it. You should also come to terms with your body image and actually go shopping. Those free clothing bins are for people in need. There was a time when I weighed 50lbs more than I do now and I thought, "why bother shopping if I'm just going to lose weight, besides I hate the way I look now." Well, weight loss is a long slow journey. You may only go down a dress size once every 2 months. Buy a couple cheap outfits and make yourself look good! If you take care of your appearance, dress nice, put on makeup, do your hair, you're going to want to eat better!
quit television..limit to one show a day..now you are free to plan your life...the weight is nothing more than baggage from you old tv habit...try real people and real food...nothing premade nothing packaged and life will be better.. have a meal with real people not tv people...read books go to parks walk and stop computer time to one hour a day ...good luck...in 180 days you will have lost 30 pounds and feel better ....I chose a pound a week and after 50 weeks have lost 47 pounds...simple
A little trick some people to is hang a picture of them at there heaviest on the fridge...that way everytime they go in there they see it and make a healthier choice....Also it is really nice seeing the numbers go down and when you really want something you just have to make the sacrafices to get it. I am a very slow loser I have only lost 25lbs since october but I have gone down from a 18 womens to a 9 juniors and seeing that is enough to keep me motivated!! You CAN do it I have faith in you and now you just need to have faith in you!
On the go andin the know.
