That time of month!!!
I'm frustrated!! I stepped on the scale on Tuesday and I lost 3 lbs. I was so excited. I stepped on the scale again on Wednesday and it said I gained 3 lbs back. I didn't eat ANYTHING bad and I was under in my calories for the day. I got my period that afternoon. How long will this water weight last. It is a real downer. If anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE COMMENT!!!
Thanks bunches!!

Reason: Moved from Weight Gain to Weight Loss
I have a couple small suggestions...
1 - Don't fret over a gain that is less than five pounds. I know it's easier said than done, but that small of a weight gain may be due to all kinds of normal variation in the body. It's quite common for body weight to flucuate 5-8 pounds over the course of a day, and the average woman's weight can vary by up to 10 pounds over the course of the menstrual cycle.
2 - If it's difficult to not fret over small weight gain, skip daily weigh-ins and go with weekly weigh-ins.
3 - Don't weigh yourself when it's that time of the month. If I got my period regularly (I have the Mirena IUD, so I don't), I would avoid weighing myself from a few days before to a few days after the onset.
karla....you're a smart cookie and can rationalize that those few pounds are probably from good ol' mother nature. Funny, how emotional we can be about it though when we're struggling with weight. Don't let it bring ya' down...you got your head screwed on straight. Just give it a few days and you'll be feeling back to normal and not so bloat-y. I wouldn't weigh myself for about a week at this point.
I am not sure how long ago you posted that blog, but I did the same thing yesterday! I dropped 2 pds my first weigh in after my diet started, and then yesterday being another week, I weighed myself again and gained the weight back, but didn't change anything I still was eating VERY healthy. I freaked yesterday, but today I feel a little better and refuse to give up. Keep your chin up and realize we are woman who have to dela with many things that can make our weight go up and down. LUCKY US!!
When I'm on my period I don't weigh myself again until I'm off! When I do, I ALWAYS weigh more and it upsets me and triggers emotional binges and I feel like I've wasted my time. Just do what you normally do and try not to weigh yourself! It works, trust me.
Even when you aren't on your period, I'd try to keep your weigh-ins less frequent. Weighing yourself each day just sets you up for frustration. If you have to weigh yourself regularly, pick one day each week. Then weight yourself in the morning, after you've just gotten out of bed and used the restroom. That is when your weight is most accurate.

Try not to trip, you're on your TOTM, it happens.
I usually see no lbs lost the Friday before and then see a few lbs less afterwards so it's like weight loss for 2 weeks instead of one.
Today is the start of my time of the month! I've learned that I need to avoid the scale like the plague during this time. I inevitably gain 2-3 pounds usually. I just started calorie counting on August 22nd, and have lost 4 pounds. It's tempting for me to get on the scale everyday, but try to avoid it during your period. I know if I weighed myself today I might even see a gain of the 4 pounds I lost! I KNOW that I've been staying on track and doing great, so I just refuse to play those mind games with myself...wait til the bloat is over!

i hate that time and I will be feeling the effects of bloating the in the next week or so. Fortunantly I get my bloat about a week before and it goes away the day i start or the day after. Thats how I usually know when its going to start. Just stay away from the scale drink plenty of water and excersise it will make you feel loads better. Sweat alot, that does help get rid of the excess water but remember to replenish or your body will hold on to the water.
Oh, the time of the month! Evil for so many reasons! Like all the above posters said, its just water weight and will probably go away in a few days. But, just think how good it will feel when you step on the scales and you lose a few lbs in one day because the water weight is gone!
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!! I am going to stay away from that darn scale for the next few days!!!!
