What time do you stop eating?
How long do you leave between your last snack of the night and breakfast for the next day?

By imposing a ban on eating after 6pm, we automatically slash our calorie intake, sometimes by as much as 1,000 calories. And in all probability, while we might eat a little more food throughout the day to compensate, chances are we won’t completely make up the calorie deficit! Ultimately, if you want to lose weight, the most important thing is to stick to your daily calorie allowance. It doesn’t matter what time of day you consume these calories, although I’d recommend spreading them evenly throughout the day to prevent hunger from kicking in. For most of us, eating in the evening is the norm and an important part of our social life – and there’s no reason why you can’t still do that AND lose weight!
I stop eating at 9pm but I generally don't get to bed before 1am. I guess that's at least 4 hours of awake time (plus 7 hours of sleep) and I rarely eat breakfast before 9am. I don't do "bedtime snacks". I think they're habit forming and a waste of calories.
To each their own! :)
There is an old adage that you should breakfast like a king, lunch like a lord and sup like a pauper. As someone said earlier your body repairs itself at night and if it is having to digest food first then it cannot get on with rebuilding(not sure about that, our bodies are wonderful things, can't it multi-task?)
However a few years ago I was developing brown spots on my hands and had brown and white discoloration on my neck(i think they are called liver spots) so for six months i did the whole no food after six in the evening.
wrecked my social life, miserable for my husband, but the marks went. I now eat my last meal at 8pm if I am at home, but if i get in late at night I do tend to have a snack before bedtime --almost as a bed time routine.
As for the protien drink before bedtime, mmm doesnt protien have to wait till it gets down to the intestines before it can be absorbed?? i would have thought all the amino acids you ate at supper will be broken down nicely and available for use by the time you go to bed. although milk is a traditional bedtime drink and that has protien I think.
Anyway I think i will try a week of no bedtime snacks and see if the next morning I feel better, I always put the bleary eyes down to a late night out rather than the food.
zombie...
when i hit my calorie limit or fall asleep whichever comes first ;)
I stop eating at midnight, but I usually go to bed around 4am. xD So basically I like a 4 hour buffer.
