I have been experiencing a tingling sensation in my face after exercising.  It lasts for about 30 minutes after I stop exercising.  I was wondering if anyone knows why this could be?  I typically exercise for about 30 minutes of jogging/jump roping.  It doesnt hurt, it feels slightly similiar to if you placed a massager on your face (but not as virgorous).   I am out of shape but within a healthy BMI and eating plenty enough.  A friend of mine pointed out that I had drank a cup of coffee within an hour prior to exercise and perhaps the caffeine could be the culprit?  I only experience this after exercise, not during or throughout any other parts of the day.

Any suggestions?

this used to happen to me in my first year of running, whenever I was going at too hard of an effort.  I'd get a tingly feeling from the left corner of my lip that went down and out to my jaw.  I never could figure it out, but it was definitely only related to hard efforts.  Very weird.  Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but I just wanted to let you know you aren't the only one!

I don't want to be the worry wart, but if this continues for either one of you, you should see a doctor. This is most likely not the case for either one of you, but I know that regular tingling could be a symptom of something neurological. I have multiple sclerosis, and I know that if I exercise too hard, my body will let me know that I need to back off when it starts to tingle.

Of course, I also know that one of my friends also experiences tingling when she exercises, and it has nothing to do with MS. But I would definitely visit a doctor if it continues.

You might want to see a doctor if it continues...

Here are some basic reasons why people tingle...tingling could be that you are cold and the blood is leaving your extemeties
to warm up your organs inside yur chest cavity... survival instinct.

Tingling could also be diabetes and blood not circulating correctly, therefore leaving your extremities, but not returning.

Tingling could be a sign of a heart attack (people get this feeling - sometimes weeks/months in advance) or a stroke (and the tingling shoots up to the head, and become paralized).

It could also be something to do with your nervous system or NOTHING at all..at least nothing too serious.

But, I would ch-ch-check it out with your dr to be on the safe side.

Tingling can also be a sign of improper breathing techinques -

When your work out do not hold your breath doing so increases your blood pressure, lowers blood traveling to the brain - The tingling may infact be sideeffect of that -

Make sure to exhale on the concentric phase, and inhale during the ecentric

- If your breathing is already proper, make sure your Hydrated as that can also lead such symptoms

The breathing may be the cause, I've noticed I breathe rather... awkwardly while exercising.  I'll focus more on my breathing and see if this gets better.

Diabetes runs in my family though.. I hope I'm not diabetic Frown

You will have other symptoms beside tingling in your face after physical activity if you are diabetic.

It very well could be as simple as breathing or your hydration...but if it continues....decrease your intensity..if it still continues...see a doctor.

I wouldn't worry, it sounds like you're just getting a good workout to me.

I'd also get this same feeling in my face and also my legs after a four-mile run back when I was doing cross-country running in high school. My instructor told me that the feeling was associated with the muscles releasing the lactic acid build up created during a work out. In tae kwon do, we will slap our legs during practice to help release the acid faster and avoid cramping and fatigue.

Simply put, your body is probably still getting used to the whole exercising thing.

You high school instuctor is no Doctor, and should say things like that a number of thing severe or not can cuase said symptons you should never just say "Eh it's not a big deal" -

The sensation she feels is not quite unlike what you would feel when your legs go to sleep, low blood flow to the head is quite often in the gym a result of poor breathing habits - and suffice to say i wouldn't be surpised if that was your issue in cross country as well.

In all my years i've never heard of a tingle being laxtic acid release - Esp in the face -

Don't get into the habit of drawing conclusions from 1 experience, 1 symptom can be a large amount of issues, anything from Bells' Palsy to Huntings disease, and back to just poor hydration can cuase a tingle in the face -

Check your breathing.

Check your hydration

If it's neither, check with your doctor -
