Any tips on getting rid of cellulite?
I have gotten really good answers to all my question so far, so even though I suspect I have set the bar too high this time, anyone found any good(inexpensive) ways to get rid of cellulite?
Mine just disappeared when I lost weight (and I'm by no means skinny, 5'3" and 129lb)... so maybe that gives you a little hope... but I think the general consensus is there isn't any way to do it, it's just luck and genetics and stuff.
I've been hearing a lot of great things about massage; supposedly getting a massage daily can help reduce the appearance of cellulite. Worth a try?
Diet and excercise. I had tons of cellulite in my thighs from getting big, now most of it has gone away since ive lost some weight.
For me, it was switching to a clean diet (minimally processed foods, loads of fluids) and HIIT exercise that made the most difference. Admittedly it is still there, but a whole lot less visible than before. I have also found that the less I have, the longer it takes for improvements to become visible.
A well rounded diet, exercise and drinking plenty of water!! this really worked for me and my mother. We both decided to take on swimming as our preferred way to workout and it has done wonders for our cellulite. Losing weight also made it less noticeable at first but now it is virtually non-existant, even when pinching the skin.
Do a google search for "dry skin brushing." You'll need a natural bristle brush in order to do it. The general rule...you always brush towards the heart...no matter which area of the body you are brushing.
If you search online, you might even be able to find some "routines" or techniques to do this. I am in the process of doing it myself as I've heard really good things. It is also very good for stimulating your lymph glands as it is a way to help eliminate toxins. Its a good idea to drink a lot of water before/after doing the brushing as it aids in elimination.
I have broken my foot and am unable to walk or put any pressure on my right foot. I thought the dry skin brushing would be a good way to help with stimulating the lymph glands as walking is a natural way to help pump the lymph through your body. Hopefully, the cellulite will be aided as well. :-)
Ask Mary Says:
"Cellulite occurs when fat cells protrude around the connective tissue that attaches skin to muscle. Weight loss can reduce some of the fat and exercise can make the muscle compact, but creams and diets are not effective, and liposuction, which does not remove surface fat, can make cellulite look worse. Promising new procedures involve lasers or infrared light and radiofrequency signals combined with vigorous massage to soften the tissue and smooth it out. Mesotherapy is another procedure that injects substances into the middle layer of skin to break down fat cells and increase blood flow. These expensive, temporary treatments are administered by plastic surgeons and dermatologists and do not work for everyone."
"pump the lymph through your body" ?????
LMAO!
Lymph nodes are little filters for the blood. They stay put. I imagine that your tickling yourself does feel good but that's about the end of it.
I have some good news. I had a ton of cellulite at my largest weight. (224 lbs at 5'2"). Now I am still overweight (down to 170lbs) and have almost no cellulite. I think it has been a combination of things. First I have taken up running and my leg muscles are stronger than ever. I also moisturize every day. I don't know if it played a role, but I do notice a difference in the quality of my skin if I forget a day. (I use this fabulous hemp oil moisturizer). The last thing is that I tan regularly (I know it is bad for me...). I think it has helped "hide" the cellulite. Now I feel comfortable wearing shorts YAY!!! I haven't worn shorts in about 7 years. Good luck!!!
Hmmmmm
As I said, just do a search on google for dry skin brushing. Having just done one myself, the very first site that comes up says this about dry skin brushing and the lymph system:
Dry brushing cleans the lymphatic system. Lymph is considered part of our immune system and is made of white blood cells called lymphocytes and the interstitial fluid that bathe our cells, bringing our cells nutrients and removing their waste. All detoxification occurs first and foremost through the lymph. Our bodies contain far more lymph than blood, so you can see how important this might be.
I think its doing a little more than tickling me!!
I wouldn't expect too much. There are plenty of skinny people who have cellulite (I have it too, at 5'6", 120lbs). I remember having read somewhere that it's usually only women who have cellulite; and the reason for this is, according to biology, that the fat in the thighs is distributed in a way that allows the body to grab an energy source quickly. It made survival easier.
thanks for the tips, i think i'll give the dry brushing a try, it certainly can't hurt anything.
i already eat healthy, exercise and drink plenty of water. massages and high tech dermatologist procedures are out of my budget, and i am a redhead, so as much as I would like a tan to hide those little imperfections, its not in the cards :)
