Although we do not like to admit it, there are times when overeating is planned or unplanned.  But as Alice Lichtenstein, DSc, the Gershoff Professor of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University says just make sure it doesn’t turn into a habit, “Although there are times when overindulgence is difficult to avoid, for example, Thanksgiving Day, it is important to not turn that event into Thanksgiving weekend."  According to a study recently published in Nutrition and Metabolism, taking an extended break from your healthy lifestyle could make it harder for you to reach a healthy weight in the future.

It is not so easy to ameliorate the symptoms of hypothyroidism according to a recent study published in the medical journal, Thyroid.  The study found that many patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, the most common form of hypothyroidism, continue to have residual symptoms even though their thyroid function tests are normal indicating successful treatment.  But that shouldn't come as a surprise to people with hypothyroidism who sometimes struggle with unrevealed symptoms despite seemingly appropriate treatment.
