So...Tired...Can't...Type...

I really feel like it is an effort just to sit here and prop my wrists on the keyboard tray.

I haven't been to a workout for 2 weeks, when I had been going very regularly 3 X a week for 2 months.  First, my family went on vacation - there goes 5 workouts, out the window, between packing everything and the actual vacation, which was in Colorado.  It was beautiful, cool, and dry.  Then we come back and it is in the upper 90's with super high humidity.  You step outside to get the mail and come back just zapped.  The AC can't keep up.

Top that with two kids (2&5) who are out of their bedtime routine, so they are staying up later and not always sleeping well (the 2 year old has had a leak every night since we got back - need bigger diapers!)

So I've just skipped one workout day.  I feel a bit bad, but I am just so tired!  And I am going to try to go workout tomorrow, I really am, but I just have lost my inertia.  And I can't help but groan when I think about getting into the hot car with two kids after pushing myself at my workout.

Somebody kick me in the rear and tell me to move.

now move!

good luck!

If you are having trouble getting motivated you could plan on trying something new at the gym or going to a class.  I find it easier to stay motivated than to get motivated in the first place, so whatever actually gets me to the gym after a lull is good in my book.

*Ouch, you didn't have to kick that hard!*  Just kidding.  Thanks for the boost.  Somehow it really helps just hearing from someone else what you already know.  Don't know why.

I WILL make myself go tomorrow.  I really like my workouts, I just feel so short on energy, and it is so hot, that I am using them as excuses.  Hopefully working out will give me some energy.

And next week starts a month of swimming lessons for my oldest, which I scheduled before I started working out for the same time I have been going, so I have to find how I can alter my routine to still get my workout.  Whew!  If you got that without reading it through several times you are my hero!

I'm not sure I will have time afterwards before the childcare closes for the afternoon.  And working out at home is really hard with the kids.  I'm following NROLFW, and was doing really well - I hate to drop it for something else for a month (though I've dropped it for two weeks already!).  We'll see what can be done.

haha, well if it makes you feel any better, Im in Houston and its 103 here today with a heat index of up to 110.  Disgusting.  At least its not that hot there and you get to workout in ac!!

Im doing NROL4W as well!!!  I just did my first workout in stage 2 and it was tough!  I had a lot of trouble keeping my balance on some of the new ones, but I know I will get better.  Nothing quite like making yourself look like a fool at the gym :p

As far as energy level goes, I don't know how to help you.  I have the same issue.  I think mine stems from not enough sleep, so I am working on that.  Do you feel like you get enough sleep and could be extra tired from the trip?  It may just take a bit of time to get back into your routine.  Maybe just a few days of lighter exercise can help you get back in the groove?

ICK!  I've visited Houston - and it feels awful!  You have my sympathy!

I think the low energy comes from several things.  We didn't get enough sleep on the trip - we were always going.  My sinuses are bothering me, so I'm not sleeping well.  My kids aren't sleeping well/out of their routine, so I'm not sleeping well, and I'm not used to the heat yet.  And I'm still trying to get out of the "sit on my rear most of the day" habit.  I'm a little over halfway through the first stage, and just figured out I was doing the deadlift wrong.  Maybe I should just start it over??  Don't know.

Okay, okay.  I'm going to sign off and go do something.  Thanks for the extra push!

You aren't far behind me at all!  The 1st stage is already twice as long as the others, so I think its ok if you keep going even if you were doing deadlifts wrong.  I ended up taking a bit of a break halfway through 1st stage and considered starting over but I just wanted to get through it!  Once I got back into it I realized I really hadn't lost too much strength and was able to get past where I was before I stopped pretty quick.  I was so proud of myself when i finished stage 1, it felt awesome!  Good luck!

Try to get some rest!  Yes, easiser said than done.  Are you eating enough?   If you feel like this for too long, talk to your doc.  I felt like that for several weeks, and one day couldn't get up to go to work.  I had taken kids to school, come back home and just couldn't do anything.   Called the doc and basically had some med changes.  It didn't help overnight, but with calling every few days,  I feel better.  Of course I don't know your whole situation, but just a thought.

Well, I had a major sinus headache last night, took some tylenol and phenyliphrine, and once I finally got to sleep (idiots around us are already popping firecrackers), I slept pretty well.  Woke up this morning feeling achy and like I was going to faint going down the stairs to let the dog out - I'm guessing I have a sinus infection - hard to tell because it all drains down my throat.  Maybe something going on with my ear as well, 'cause it was hurting last night too.

I stopped taking my Zyrtec three days ago because I couldn't tell if it was helping my allergies or not, and i hate taking a medicine every day if I don't really need it.  The only other meds I'm taking are BC pills and a mild antidepressant (Celexa).

I haven't been eating my calories lately because I just feel too tired to eat - The past 2 days its been around 1400 calories - I'd been eating between 1600 and 2000 (usually toward the upper end!)  And a decent mixture of carbs, fats and proteins, too.  No real changes in caffeine intake.  Drinking lots of water - making sure my urine is pale.

If it keeps on I will see a Dr. next week - I hate dragging two little ones to the doctor just to have her say she can't find anything and to try antibiotics and see if that works.

One of the things my doctor did was move my Zyrtec to the evening.  It had never bothered me as far as causing drowsiness, but just in case.   Allergies can make you very sleepy too.  You should probably continue the Zyrtec, talk to your doc.  Sometimes I stop Zyrtec for the same reasons you did... I end up with hives a few days later and swollen and tired.  I don't get respiratory symptoms though.  That has never been my issue.  Also, my doctor started me on Cymbalta in the morning and I have been weaning off of Zoloft.  I had been on Zoloft for 5 -10 years.  I can't remember.   The first few days I went from tired to depressed, but then started feeling good.   I slipped back into depression, called doc, she upped the dosage of Cymbalta to 60mg.   My Zoloft was at 200mg and is now down to 50mg.  In a few weeks I am to drop it altogether.   Ok... these things may not be your answer.  All I know was I was so tired..... I couldn't even move a millimeter, at least that is what it felt like.  I didn't feel depressed even.  The main point is TALK with your doctor.  Hopefully you have one you can talk to often, to get results.   It helps that I had been seeing a therapist for a year and she agreed that 80% of the problem is physiological, the result situational.   I know this all sounds cliche,  oh.... another crazy, middle-aged (50), over-weight woman.... but it is who I am.   I have to say that these changes are part of the reason I even have the energy and drive to diet right now.   I feel so much better.  No, life around me hasn't changed, I am changing.  This site is helping because I am forcing myself to participate in forums, log food and activity,  and journal.   Anyway, I hope this helps and I am not overwhelming with too many details

No, no, details are good (as you can see from my long posts!)Wink

I was taking Zyrtec in the evening, as well as my other two meds - it's just easier to remember them and take them at the exact same time then.  I'm on Celexa, and have been taking it for 6 weeks.  The first week I felt like laying around all day, but much more peaceful inside.  The rest of the time I felt incredible!  But I do need to go see the Dr. to check on the Celexa, so I think I will make an appt for next week to do that, and if I'm still experiencing these symptoms definitely talk with her.  I'm starting to feel really guilty for laying around instead of doing chores or playing with my kids, but it is such an effort to move!

I'm going to add you as a friend, Tess, you sound like an incredible person to get to know.  I really appreciate everyone's input.

Not sure how long you have been taking Zyrtec but you might want to go back to the doctor and discuss other options.  I took Zyrtec (for 10 years)and used Nasonex but had to switch to something else this year.  Try Xyzal and Veramist.  Of course i have extreem allergies and have been feeling better since i start allergy shots.  But not being able to breath will tire you out faster than a two year old

good luck

Your allergies are bothering.  Try the neti pot.  It really does work, I love mine.

Work out at home with your kids.  You can get an hour of stretching in just playing with the kids.  My grand daughters and I do a lot of exercises together and they wear me out.  Granted they are not high impact, but sometimes just moving helps a lot.  We play head and shoulders, knees and toes, reach for the sky, somersaults, basic yoga.  We do one where we sit on the floor with are feet touching and hold hands, rock back and forth and sing row, row, row your boat.
