Toast before bed...

Quote  |  Reply

For the past two nights (one was a workout day) I've been having odd hunger cramps, so I had two low calorie pieces of Toast (wheat) with a tbsp of Jam (total of about 150 calories).

I usually have Special K or, Almond milk, or a Rice cake...

Is it a bad thing to have Toast and Jelly before bed if its still within my needed calorie range and I am working out in the morning?

No,

You're Fine. I Personally think you'r FINE. I wouldn't do it on a regular, on a count of, your body stores fat when you sleep. I wouldnt be concerned, even if you did it a couple times in the future. Try to add more fiber and food to your dinner, more claories, carbs, healthy fats, It will save you calories in the long run, so you don't nige at night Hope this helps :)

Btw, I Normally Eat a peach, Apple, or Piece of Fruit before bedtime, if I'm really stricing, Normally I aim for TWo or Three hours So my body can digest.

The Nutritionists I've spoken to advise me to Eat A few hours before bed, but don't let slip-up ruin your path.

Have  nice night!

I honestly feel that the time you eat something makes no difference. You're not DEAD when you're asleep, you still burn calories! I wouldn't worry about the toast. As long as you're within your calories there should be no problems

your body stores extra fat at night? My nutritionist always told me that the whole eating before bed thing doesn't matter and that that is suggested more as a control thing than your body storing ffood in a different way at that time.....

she said for example if I were to eat an apple at midnight and count it for the next day that is fine, provided I don't eat another apple the next day (if I only eat one apple a day that is of course).....

timing DOES NOT matter when you eat....the QUANTITY you do calorie wise DOES

it's a myth....your perfectly fine do it as you please!

Supposedly eating carbs right before bed can interfere with your sleep. If you're not experiencing this problem, then you're probably fine. As far as any weight-loss concerns, if you're keeping your calorie intake beneath your calorie expenditure, then I think that allotting for a small fairly healthy bedtime snack shouldn't interfere with your overall weight loss or maintenance efforts.

I just read an article in O magazine that said eating carbs before you go to bed can help one sleep better!?

Also I have been known to have a slice of toast w/ olivio and jam 2 hours or so before bed, it's an odd craving but I don't think it has impacted my weight loss negatively. I'm losing pretty steadily which I think is because I've been staying within my calorie range.

The only reason I try to stay away from food right before bed is because it gives me night mares if i have much food in my stomach during sleep! I get really vivid, scary/angry dreams and it messes me up! I really don't think that eating before bed has a negative effect on weight though, as others said it is the total calories for the day that matters.

If you're hungry you should eat - it is more important to learn how to peoperly recognise your body's hunger cues and fulfill them sensibly (as you are doing by eating this snack) than to deprive yourself and then probably have a grumpy/hungry nights sleep because of it.
