Today is my b-day and I need help!!! fell off the wagon!!
Ok guys i started on CC in April and had lost 27 lbs. I was doing good until August. My Dad passed away and I got miserable. I broke my wrist around the first of September... the past 2 months have basically sucked!! ANYWAYS, I stepped on the scale for the 1st time this morning.. OMG... I have gained 5 lbs back!!
I need motivation. I was doing sooo good. I was fitting into my old clothes. I felt better. I have just gotten in the dumps and can't get out.!! What can I do to get me back on track? (Definetly no cake for me today) --sad, sad birthday girl
Give yourself a birthday present, let yourself enjoy the day, just don't go overboard. Resolve to start anew tomorrow. Listen, 5 lbs after 2 bad months, that is NOTHING. It could be a fluctuation due to your TOTM, extra water weight, etc. It really is nothing to worry about. I have a huge problem with fluctuations around my TOTM. On the 8th I was down to 185. On the 15th I stepped on the scale and I weighed 205. I had gained 20lbs in one week. Now that my period is over I am back down to 190. Don't worry about it.
1 - You lost 27 pounds. (This means you know you how to do it and can get back on track. 27 pounds is a lot! Great accomplishment, be proud. :) )
2- After a death in the family AND a personal injury, you stopped worrying about diet for 2 months - UNDERSTANDABLE! After 2 whole months, you ONLY gained 5 pounds. That's really not much at all. You could easily have gained a lot more (imagine 2lbs a week for 8 weeks - 16 pounds.) SO, even during this stressful time you didn't really do too bad at all. IN FACT, I'd say you deserve a congrats again. :P
3- Today is your birthday. You have still lost 22 pounds. You have a cute hubby and gorgeous kids that i'm gonna guess love you. SO, celebrate! Stop being sad and be happy that you have lost that weight before, know how and will get right back on track and start losing the rest of the weight. You have a lot to celebrate, so do so. :) i say have a darn slice of your own bday cake, too. :P
Have a wonderful birthday! :D
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I agree with what everyone has said. concentrate on the HUGE accomplishment you've already made. Thats a testiment to the fact that you are capable of doing this! The best way to get out of a funk is to remember that IT IS POSSIBLE! and you can do it!
Enjoy your birthday! I went on a week long birthday binge last week and gained back a few, but you know what? I had a damn good time. Life is too short. enjoy it! Especially after what sounds like a really sucky couple of months.
good luck!
Anyway, like everyone else has said... you just have to get back on the wagon and keep going. No one is going to be able to motivate like you can motivate you. Tell yourself it's for your health and that you're going to do it so YOU can feel better about you.
Eat birthday cake. Just don't eat the whole thing. haha =)
(thank god I hate cake, otherwise I would have been screwed yesterday)
Start fresh tomorrow, just eating your maintenance calories.
Each week, reduce by 50-100 calories per day until you're eating in the range that you want. Or, just use your exercise to lose weight.
first of all, happy birthday!
second, i know (somewhat) how you feel, because it was my birthday last week! i went nuts! beer, chicken wings, coldstone ice cream cake....you name it, i ate it. not only that, but i decided to "celebrate" my birthday for the whole week. i've only lost about five pounds since i started last month, and i gained back three pounds in that week! totally disappointed and down on myself, but you know what? it's a lesson in why it's important to stay on track. so hey, go nuts! but tomorrow, get right back on track, love.
Happy Birthday, megonjay,
You don't have one single reason why you should skip the birthday cake. I understand that you have had a rough time lately, but you deserve to celebrate.
I can understand how discouraging and disappointing the scale is for you right now, but the good news is that you are still here. Considering what you had to deal with, I think that you are doing really well.
If you feel like logging your consumptions again at Calorie Count, then I've no doubt that you will lose a pound in a week without much effort.
Losing a loved one is very traumatic and can take ones focus away from other things, this is a natural process of grieving. The truth is your still doing very well and I?m impressed you maintained your discipline. Many people myself included would have spiraled out of control in a similar situation. The five pounds is just a little bump in the road to success. You still have over 80% of your original success. It sounds like your ready to start building on your past success. You?ve had the weight bull by the horns and wrestled it to the ground. It?s time to get back in the saddle because you?ve done the hardest part?make up your mind your going to do something.
I wish you the very best going forward with the weight battle.
and Happy B-day.
