Coolchristy... you rock, woman, and please, thank your husband for his service for me... I haven't any doubt that you are already beautiful and that you will be even more beautiful when he comes back! Bonnie

This is week one for me, and I have been trying.  How do you find time to exercise, when I get home from work I am exhausted.  But I know if I exercise it will come off quicker and easier.

5/14  245

5/21  243  2 pounds down (yippe)

5/29  242

When you work and depending upon your family obligations, evenings can be tough.

The only way I can exercise is to do it during the day. Now, since I work and do not intend to get up any earlier than the 5:30 I do, that means I am not going to do an hour of anything in one lump. So, I "workout" throughout the day.

I altered my morning routine and found 30 minutes for yoga before leaving for work. Later, I started taking the stairs in the office (I work on the third floor). Not long after that, a colleague and I decided to start walking at lunch M-F. First short and slow around the building hallways. Now we drive 3 blocks to a nearby mall and speed walk 2 miles (every one appreciates that we do not walk outside in Houston heat at lunch and then return to work LOL!). Recently bought a set of 2 pound weights and every other day - at work while my morning tea is steeping - I do some reps to improve my arms. I do not do any formal exercise when I get home, but I do my best to go up and down the stairs as often and as vigorously as possible. If I am on the phone, I pace around the house.

I guess the idea is - just move, anytime and in any way you can given where you are. Get as much in as you can early in the day. The rest is extra! The more you move, the more you will want to and the more you will be able to. Have fun!

Thanks for the encouragement everybody!

My husband has never known me at my goal weight (we met at the end of college after I had already put on some weight---I was at about 175). So hopefully he'll be pleasantly surprised when he gets back!! I can't wait to see his face but, alas, thats a long while away so I better keep at it!

Tryingtogetitoff...2 lbs is a great start! Keep up the good work! I find that I get in a better workout (and feel better throughout the day) if I can do it first thing in the morning. I have started going to bed shortly after my son (which is REALLY early) so I can get enough sleep and still drag my butt out of bed around 5 in order to get in part of my workout. Anyway....GOOD LUCK!!

Hey all,

Im not back on track yet but Im trying to get there.  I have been trying to be there for my sister and it has been rather stressful.  I just feel so badly for her and for me.  I wish there was more that I could do but I guess just being there by phone is all I can do at this point.  I plan to get back on track on Monday.

I went and got a manicure and pedicure today.  I asked dh if I got some nail polish if he would paint my toenails for me.  He said he hates feet so he would rather pay someone else to do it.  ROFL!  Hey it was a nice hour and a half of being pampered and away from the house to boot.  I think I am going to start treating myself to that once a month.

Karrie...I'm so sorry for your (and your sister's) Loss. HUGS. I hope you can get back on track Monday, but make sure you take care of yourself emotionally too!

I second the idea of getting a mani/pedi once a month, except I plan to do it every 2 wks!! Surprised

Have a great wknd!

I am taking good care of myself emotionally.  I have a great understanding husband and a wonderful caring therapist that I see.  We have done a lot of talking about it this week.  She has actually called me to check on me as I am now only seeing her once a week instead of twice.  God blessed me when he gave me my husband and my therapist.

Happy Tuesday!!!  231.4 today.  Down 3.1 since last Tuesday.  YIPEEE!  I figured it would be bad.  My sister got married on Saturday, and I ate way too much this weekend.  But I have started walking 4 times a week, and am being alot more careful about how much I eat.  I cut out soda, and switched to tea or sugar free lemonade.  I have also changed the way I am looking at losing.  My long term goal has not changed, but I have set a short term goal of 225.  Once I meet that, I will set another short term goal.  Hope everyone has a wonderful week!Laughing

Congrats beckiejo on the weight loss.  WTG!!!  Where did you get your scale that measures in point incriments?  Mine only does whole and half measures.  I would love to have a scale that does in point measurement because every point counts LOL!

Hey guys sorry I haven't been on lately. I have been in this funk lately. I just can't seem to get out of it. Well I will see if I can out of it this week.

Well remember the friend I told you about that paid for the surgery when she owed me money? Well I seen her this weekend and she said she lost 31lbs but you can not tell it at all. I am sad to admit it made me kinda of happy. I know that is a real bad way to feel but I can not deny it. All I kept thinking was Karma is a B**ch!

I was at a party and out of the 10 girls that were there 7 of them have had weight loss surgery. Most have lost alot of weight. But what I was noticing was they all ate junk and I mean junk. My friend who had the surgery kept saying how she couldn't eat too much and most of the time she is eating ice cream.

What is the point of getting this surgery if you are not going to eat right. Can't you just gain it all back eventually?

Hey guys! I haven't been on in a while but I think I kinda got out of my little funk-thing I was going through. I am back to exercising more, going to classes at gyms because I have no motivation to go do stuff by myself. I am a big class person.

I am back down to 183.5, but I don't remember what I was last time I posted on here, but last time I weighed myself I was 185. Everyone has been telling me I look thinner, but the scale has either gone up or not moved. (It's TTOM so I don't know how accurate the # is) But I suppose if people are telling me I look thinner it's a good thing.

I can already tell that I have made pretty good improvement just by observing how I used to act. For example, I have fruit for breakfast with one slice of toast everyday, and one day I decided to have home fries and scrambled eggs (don't know what I was thinking!) That stuff used to be no problem for me and I'd eat it almost everyday, but last time, my stomach was so not used to have that much grease that it made me so sick all day! I don't have soda anymore either, so if I do splurge on soda it usually gives me a stomach-ache too.

trytobehealthy- I think people can gain weight back even after weight loss surgery if they continue to eat unhealthy (Good example is Ron from this recent season of Biggest Loser) But so many people think that it's a quick fix and an easy fix for them to lose weight and not have to change anything about themselves. So they might be skinny for a little while, but they aren't really healthy! Weight-loss surgery can be a good thing if you use it to get a jump start and then change your eating and exercising habits, but ultimately if you don't eat better and exercise you will not stay skinny and will not be healthy!  Those that take the high road and lose weight the right way, ultimately win!!

Jannid      &nb sp;    Great exercise advise, I will begin incorporating some of your ideas this week!  I could spare a little time in the morning and there is a mall near work that I can walk at.  You have several good ideas and instead of sitting in a kitchen watching television during lunch I can be doing something more constructive!  Thank you for the tips!!

Hi Bonnie, funny how we don't appreciate things until we don't have them...I know I fall into that catagory more than I should. Got to work on gratitude every day!!..... Thanks for the good wishes!!

Have a great weekend!!Smile

Sorry I have been MIA again.  My back has been giving alot of problems and I cant sit for very long.  I went to the pain doctor on Friday who gave me something akin to ibuprophen which I have already established doesnt work for me.  He wants me to go and have injections done into my back but Im afraid to since the last time I had it done I ende up in the ER the next day with pain so bad I could hardly walk.

how about acupuncture?

I have tried acupuncture and it gives me some relief but it isnt covered on my insurance plan and I cant afford to do it without.

Coolkarrie so sorry about the back pain...my husband has been in constant pain since an accident 7 years ago... one thing that works for him, and that i also use from time to time... TEMS unit.. he bought his for 20.00, but they can go up to 200.00, anyway this is the thing a lot of acupuncture people and pain docs and chiros...use (in addition to their treatments) small beeps of electricity on the pain points... called electrical neural stimulation... great thing to have... portable so you can walk around with it on..his model is EMSI=2001 --EMSI in Tampa, FLA...1-800-588-8383... it has been a lifesaver for him...(and me!)

Take it easy!

Coolkarrie... you need a prescription from a doc to get the unit when you buy it... my hubby has tried several units... this has been the best by far...good luck
