Today is October 13th, and I've lost 26 pounds since September 8th!

I am an active 36 year old man, in fact, I am active duty Navy. My wife and I quit smoking backing in 2005 and i've gained 5lbs a year every since. I was starting to get very worried about the weight I had gained becuase every since I can remember I was never able to lose weight. I've been thin my whole life, but after we quit smoking I started to pack it on (the weight) and keep it on. I had read many articles that suggested that food journaling was the most successful way to lose weight and keep it off. I scoffed! Then I tried it and 26 pouds later I am completely satisfied. It kind of proved to me that GNC and fad diets are all crap and that I was overweight becuase I was simply eating too much. I exercised everyday, in fact its required of us in the Navy, but I couldn't burn off all of the calories I was taking in. I estimated that I was taking in approximately 4-6 thousand calories a day! Now I take in no more than 2200 and normally burn off more calories than I take in. I can keep this monitored by using this site and I am completely grateful for it! Gary

Congrats on the weight-loss, but just to clarify, you mean that you eat 2200 but burn 2200+? That concerns me. Can you explain what you meant?

Congratulations on the weight loss and please don't let my next comment ruin that ...

but OMG! That's over 5 lbs a week! Sometimes I hate men! lol. Are you sure you weren't carrying a cement block around and you just remembered to put it down?

Wow, that's great, congrats!

Good for you.  Just ensure you are keeping a healthy diet in addition to the calories.

You may want to slow down your loss, though... AFAIK, losing that much weight so quickly may increase the amount of muscle loss (compared to a slower weight loss) vs. fat.  Your body can only burn fat so quickly. And make sure to keep up with strength/resistance training as well.
