LOCKED TOPIC
so did today screw it all up???
for the past week i've done REALLY really well- i didnt eat much and i got a lotttttttt of exercise, and i looked thinner. but today, i woke up and i was super hungry so i just ate and ate and ate
now i know i have to have 3500 calories OVER my normal burn rate= but i've also heard of people 'fasting' (not that thats what i did) and then after actually eating for a day they gain everything back
i didnt weigh myself so i dont know how much i lost= i sort of have my period so im waiting another week
but my question is this- could only ONE day of eating more have the same effect of eating normally after a fast?
sorry if this doesnt make sense!!
Reason: Promotion of starvation diets or habits that exhibit signs of an eating disorder ("pro-ana", "pro-mia", etc.) is prohibited.
NOTE: try to burn a bit off does not mean go do a 3000 calorie burn. Just get something in if you can.
i just dont want to get fatter :(
See miss_trouble's post.
tbh today prolly did you more good than harm if you've been starving yourself all week you've been doing yourself more harm than good.
Did today screw it up?? no .. this weeks lack of food screwed it up.
starving ourselves does not = wieight loss its just makes up ill and misrible because the weight won't come off unless our bodys think we can afford to lose it and when our bodys are starving it clings despratly to every pound of weight.
I have to agree with everyone who says that 500-1000 is too little. 1200 is the MINIMUM calories a girl needs, and you need to make sure that you're having calcium. Stuck getting calories? Have milk or yogurt. Being a teenage girl you need to build strong bones NOW, or else you'll have trouble with osteoperosis later on in life.
No time to eat is a terrible excuse. You need to make sure your diet is balanced, healthy and consistant. I don't know your body, or how much weight you need to lose, but losing more than 1% of your body weight a week is dangerous. Not to mention, aestetically you'll have loose skin folds if you lose weight too quickly. And those are nasty.
So re-evaluate a little bit, set out a menu ahead of time if that makes eating easier. Keep some healthy snacks on hand if you are stuck for time, but make sure you keep yourself healthy and safe, you don't want an ED, and you don't want to get sick.
"i know that amount isnt good- but i swear it was an accident. i had almost no time to eat the entire week and almost none of it was vegetarian, so you can see my dilemma."Baloney. You certainly had time to exercise. And you talk in your first post as though your eating this little was a GOOD thing, as a way to get thinner.
"for the past week i've done REALLY really well- i didnt eat much and i got a lotttttttt of exercise, and i looked thinner."It's a slippery slope, my dear, and you're heading in the downward direction.
You need to eat at least 1200 calories or you are setting yourself up for a binge. Just make sure to workout and eat. If you dont you will end up gaining anyway.
I second what shandykat said. you were happy to not eat enough. And no way you "look thinner" from a week of eating like a bird. It's in your head. which is a bad sign for an ED.
try to eat healthy! Eat the right amount every day and you won't have starving binges.
One day does not make a difference - if anything it is good to eat a lot one day and then not as much the next day because it keeps your metabolism guessing - the one thing you should NOT do is be hard on yourself because that will just make you stress more which will cause you to want to eat more and then the cycle will just continue on this downward spiral... ugh! What you can do is try & start tomorrow "fresh"... Maybe you can consider today your "cheat day" - Also, maybe you should re-evaluate what you are eating in general because typically binges are spurred from the lack of foods you used to enjoy - moderation is key!
Starving yourself is not "doing REALLY really well". Your post is basically asking whether finally eating enough food "screwed up" your week of starving. You have it backwards, just like before. See a counselor, please.
You need to seek help and support in your real life. A school counselor, a clergy member, an adult friend or family member are all good places to start. BREAKDOWN OF WHY 1200 CALORIES A DAY IS MINIMUM
Your body needs at least 1200 calories per day to survive. Here is a very rough scientific break down provided by a dietician for a 5' 2", 19 year old female weighing approximately 100 pounds, sitting around all day and doing nothing:
-The heart needs 12% of the calories (144 cals)
-The kidney needs 12% of the calories (144 cals)
-The Liver needs 23% of the calories (276 cals)
-The brain needs 23% of the calories (276 cals)
-The skeletal muscle needs 30% of the calories (360 cals)
