My goodness, I'm 48 years old today!!!

I've done a walk down memory lane and, for the whole mile long stroll you can check out my journal entry for today but I thought it would be neat if everyone could tell us one or two things that occurred the year they were born.  (Don't forget to tell us the year).

I'll start with, 1959:

Barbie made her debut in April 1959 to the delight of little girls everywhere!

I have no idea about anything that happened in the year I was born off the top of my head... But I do know that Professional snowboarder and Olympic medalist Shaun White was born on the exact same day as me...

After looking up my year:

- The first PC Virus titled "Brain" began to spread in January 1986
- A tour bus carrying Metallica crashed in Sweden, killing their bassist, Cliff Burton
- The Mets won the world series :(
1984-

Marvin Gaye was murdered by his father.
Soundgarden was formed.
The first MTV Music Awards was held.

On my birthday July 13, 1983

1983 - Around 3,000 Tamils were slaughtered by Sinhalese Buddhist majority in Sri Lanka and some 400,000 Tamils fled to neighboring Tamil Nadu, India and a lot found refuge in Europe and Canada. This incident, known as Black July led directly to beginning of civil war in Sri Lanka.
