Tofu Questions
Hi!! I hear a lot of people talk about baking tofu. I am new to preparing tofu, but I love eating it. How do you bake it?? I buy the pre-marinated kind, so all I need to do is slice it.
At what temp and for how long do you bake it???

well, I don't bake it, I just slice the stuff and throw it in a skillet with nonstick cooking spray. It's faster. and it makes crazy good sandwiches.
Hi Nicole,
Do you have a Whole Foods by you? Its on their salad bar and is actually cheaper to buy it that way (pre baked and by the pound) than to try to make it yourself. I attempted to bake some myself and it was a disaster. I know its high in protein and low in fat but I couldnt find it on the calorie counter in the proper format. I would love to know if anyone has a guess to the calories?

frankly, i've only baked tofu a few times, i find it takes a long time (maybe that's cause i'm a newbie!)
i usually just put it in at 350-400 degrees (F) or so. I slice the tofu to 1/4" thick. More or less, (less if you can slice them, i suck at the knife-ing). I like the crispiness. Then it bakes until it's done, like 20 minutes.
I know you get pre-marinated, but I like to do it in soy sauce and wasabi :D. OH! Don't forget to grease the pan (pam, a brush of olive oil, whatever you fancy) before you bake it, or else the tofu will totally stick.
Good luck, and good eats!

BBQ'd Tofu: cut the tofu block into 8 equal slices... place it in a large cast iron frying pan or baking pan with sides, just big enough to fit the tofu in a single layer... mix together a 1/3 cup of BBQ sauce and a 1/3 cup of water (or wine or beer)... pour over tofu and bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes...
I usually eat this with a baked sweet potato and some green veggies...
