Sitting here eating another one....a chopped yellow one marinated in balsamic vinegar for 4 hours, topped with a can of tuna, a little low cal mayo and hot sauce and a handful of oyster crackers....280 calories for a big bowl of lunch.
But when I get home there'll be 4 more ready to eat. Oh why can't some of them wait until December to ripen?

YOU SAID IT!!! I wish that someone would invent a way to grow tomatoes year round. Your lunch sounds really yummy!!! I do something similar. I also love marinating the tomato and putting fat free feta with it.
The eggplant in my garden just exploded, so did the zucchini....they're taking up way too much room in my fridge!

Just started getting my tomatoes. Last night, a delicious tomato sandwich with 35-calorie bread and fat free may. It made an awesome very low calorie snack for just before bed. Tonight I think I'll just serve sliced tomato as a side dish at dinner. This is my first time growing tomatoes and it's almost silly how excited I get about going out to my little flower pot garden to pick the ripe one(s). I may just go ahead with a full garden next year. Much more work then a flower pot garden I know, but then we could try growing a variety of fresh vegetables!
our tomato season lasted only two weeks in late May early June and then it got too hot for the plants and they died. We got a whopping total of 14 cherry tomatoes this year! Woop! Best harvest yet. I will likely miss the fall season as it is just too hot to get the things out there right now.

Worse than I imagined....12 more this afternoon....a carnivore's worst nightmare....they're trying to break out of the kitchen and take over the house....
I might be forced to stew a few of them.
To paraphrase Garrison Keillor, tomatoes in the midwest come on hard and fast this time of year, and you eat them morning, noon and night. But you'd kill for ONE of them in December.
The basil just went beserk too. Not enough pizza in the world to use up all those leaves.
