How can that be done??
I LOVE walking lunges, and I do those quite often. Do those work the glutes?
I've also tried doing squats, but they hurt and I absolutely hate them!!!
I can go on the elliptical machine for an hour twice a week- I've heard that helps tighten up your butt as well?
I just really want a firmer, smaller butt! I'm already doing the cardio part to burn off all that fat, but the toning part is more complicated.....
You're 15 and sounds like you're healthy and fit. You're not going to like this, but you need to be patient. You haven't finished growing.
From now until 25, your bones restructure significantly and both your hormonal and neurological systems are still developing. I guarantee you your butt (and everything else) will look very different in a few years just from all of the skeletal sculpting that will happen, no matter how many lunges you do or don't do.
Try to enjoy being fit and strong. Sure go on the elliptical, or treadmill. Go ahead and take hip hop classes or circuit or core body training -- it's all good.
Just make sure you eat enough (and obviously light on the processed junk) to allow your body to finish what it's just started which is growing up.
Stop treating yourself as disconnected body parts and start to treat your body as all you. Your butt, that you have treated with such disgust, is one of the most amazing muscle groups you have -- you couldn't even walk upright without it let alone get on an elliptical to punish it for being so imperfect in your eyes.
O.k. in all seriousness, please be a bit kinder to yourself and enjoy how fabulous you are right now as you are.
Hi Ash,
I just recently started a tap dancing class. I’m a beginner and have been going once a week for about two months now. The day after the class, the top parts of my bum really hurts, you know, that kind of soreness you get after a hard workout.
I would definitely recommend tap dancing.
Good luck. ![]()
