Took the test

Quote  |  Reply

And it was negative.  So I am glad I took it just to know so I could stop obsessing about it.  I am happy to say that my inital reation was a little surprised but relieved.  I like my family the way it is, so yay!  Anyway, now to figure out other reasons for my symptoms and lateness.  Just wanted to update!

i did that last weekend.  i don't want a family (i know, never say never, but...) so i was releaved.  no matter how scary it is to take, it's better to get it over with.  15 bucks for peace of mind is worth it if you ask me.

Not to further worry you but how late are you? There could be a chance that this is a false negative. Sometimes if you take the test too early to your missed period date, a false negative appears.

I am on day 31 for an avg cycle that is 21-25 days long.  I considered the possibility of a false negative and if I still have not gotten AF by Wed (my personal cut-off) I will test again.  The Wed is my cut-off because that is the day I bring my baby clothes and maternity clothes to my annual garage sale.  Need to know if I need to pull them or not LOL.  But for now, I am going with the assumption that the test was right and there is something else going on.  Who knows, maybe my body just wanted to little break from "normal".

are you on the pill?  did you just go off it?  the latter is why i'm late: i've been on it for 8 yrs but the last one i was on made me crazy so i stopped taking it and i have to wait for my period before i can start my new one.  but when i WAS on the pill i completely skipped a period once.  that was a couple yrs ago and no baby, so...  it's possible to completely skip one.  i used the new digital preg test that you take the day AFTER you miss ur period.  you shoudl try that one.  more expensive, but more accurate.

you can not relie on a pregnancy test.I know serveral people who have taken several pregnancy test and they come out negative and when they finally go to the doctor to see why they have certain symptons they find out they are pregnant. So go to the doctors to be certain.

I have not been on birth control pills for quite awhile (not since shortly after having my 1st son 4.5 years ago) so definately not that.   I have never had a false negative before (except when I took a test WAY too early).  But I suppose it is possible.  I forgot to mention in this thread that I actually had a tubal ligation about 3 years ago, so the likelyhood of pregnancy is pretty low, but still not completely out of the question.

I sure as heck still feel pregnant and still no sign of AF, but we will give it a little more time and test again.  I have to see my doc for a follow-up pap smear anyway, so I will just schedule that too and see what he has to say.  I really don't do anything that would hurt a baby in the meantime, so a little wait won't really hurt (except maybe my sanity!)
