TOOT! Does Kashi oatmeal give anyone else gas???
I was eating plain, unflavored oatmeal as part of my diet, but CC recommended I try the Kashi maple oatmeal. So I switched. And ever since I switched, I get totally gassy about 3 hours after I eat it. What the heck? Is this oatmeal secretly powered by broccoli? Am I doing something wrong? I really like the taste and texture, but could do without the side effects.
Curious if this happened to anyone else.

Yes but not from the same brand. My Daughter gets gas from basic oatmeal. Did you get any additional info about gas and oatmeal?![]()
Can I just giggle like a 3rd grader without adding anything helpful? =)
The nutritional information lists chicory root, which always wreaks havoc on my belly. Perhaps that's the same issue with your tummy?
I also can't eat Fiber One bars, or anything else artifically augmented with added fiber. Bleh. I hate my sensitive stomach. xD
Maybe you can just buy a tub of quick oats and pick up some maple syrup and cinnamon? Good luck! ^_^
I don't know the answer to your question, but you might not want to use the CC recommendations - they're not really based on anything, just a random similar food. Old fashioned oats (plain, unflavored, unprocessed) is a way more healthy option than anything that comes in a packet (even though kashi is a better option than say....quaker). It's up to you and what you prefer - but I think if you're used to (and enjoy) the plain oats you should really stick to that.
These are the ingredients for the maple oatmeal: WHOLE GRAIN ROLLED OATS, EVAPORATED CANE JUICE, CHICORY ROOT FIBER, GUAR GUM, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, SALT, NATURAL FLAVORS, DECAFFEINATED GREEN TEA EXTRACT, CALCIUM CARBONATE, DECAFFEINATED WHITE TEA EXTRACT, ALPHA TOCOPHEROL ACETATE (NATURAL VITAMIN E), ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C), ACTIVIN® GRAPE SEED EXTRACT, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B6), FERROUS FUMARATE (IRON), ZINC OXIDE, BETA CAROTENE (SOURCE OF VITAMIN A), FOLIC ACID AND VITAMIN B12.
It does have a lot of fiber in it (5 gm). Perhaps that's the cause? The only "weird" ingredients I see here are the chicory root fiber, guar gum, and decaffeinated green tea extract. Maybe someone else knows more about them, but they sound like they could be gas-producing.
