top 10 advantages of loosing weight

Quote  |  Reply

gotta focus on the positives - here's my top ten advantages of loosing weight (besides the health benefits) and in no particular order

  1. jumping up the stairs are easier
  2. wearing a skirt in the summer with no tights underneath without flesh on inside of leg rubbing against each other until it hurts
  3. rediscovering a whole new wardrobe.... at the back of the wardrobe (old clothes you can finally fit into)
  4. running without feeling your bum jumping all over the place, actually just running effortlessly is a nice feeling
  5. having more "space" on planes as you don't need to screw yourself down into your seat
  6. boobs have gone smaller so much more comfortable wearing lower cuts at work without them spilling over
  7. feeling more comfortable with body, and quite a bit sexier!
  8. getting lovely compliments from friends, family and colleagues
  9. looking forward to a holiday on the beach without the dread of having to show body in bikini
  10. the joy of getting into a favorite pair of jeans that has been hidden away for years in the hope that one day... (still, got quite a muffing top on show so not for public showing yet but will get there in the end!)

What are your's?? Please add to the list. I'm sure there are many more!!

  1. Having a healthy relationship with food & body
  2. Actually putting on my bikini next summer instead of hiding from it
  3. not worry about trying on clothes @ the mall
  4. not dread the scale
  5. be able to wear all the clothes in my closet

ok thats 5 I could think of

1. Not having to shop in a plus-size store.

2. Not having tourniqet creases from your socks on you calves/ankles

3. Not having fat on the sides of your breasts, under your armpits, you know what I'm talking about

4.Being able to talk to "athletic" types about running/training routines and being able to relate.

5. Positive first impressions

6. Being able to fit on the slides/swings/playground equipment with your kids

7.  So much more comfortable with public transportation seating. Airplanes, buses, train

8.  Wearing a bikini for the first time in my whole life!

9.  People saying, "I bet with your body you can wear anything." "I can't believe you used to way 200+ pounds.  You look like someone who has been skinny all your life."

10.  Inner-peace.  Tranquility.  Empowerment.  Knowing that you have the ability to make positive changes in your life.

1. Feeling sexy!

2. Being able to pull off all sorts of fashions and styles.

3. Not being "the fat girl" in pictures with friends.

4. Smiling when you look into the mirror.

5. Being strong and fit from exercising.

6. Being able to indulge on a treat without people thinking "no wonder she's not skinny if she eats like that."

7. Learning to actually and truly enjoy healthy foods.

8. Hearing compliments from family and friends.

9. Feeling full of energy every day!

10. Knowing that you're one of the strong ones, who could stick to a diet and make it a lifestyle... who could take control of their body and become the person on the outside that they had always been inside. :)

#1- CONFIDENCE!!!!!!

2) Personal satisfaction of knowing that I have regained control over my body - Junk food no longer owns me!

3) Buying new clothes (shopping shopping shopping is fun again!) because even the clothes in the back of my wardrobe are TOO BIG!

4) That all of my old clothes are TOO BIG! hehe

5) Being in the BEST SHAPE OF MY LIFE - and knowing that it is because of hard work - not just because I am young with the metabolism of a hummingbird!

6) Did I mention confidence? Let me say it again: CONFIDENCE!

1. The great compliments I get from hubby, children, friends and family.

2. Intimacy is way more fun now!Kiss

3. Playing with my kids without having to sit down and "take a break".

4. Seeing someone who hasn't seen me since I've lost weight and see their eyes open wide as they say "wow, you look great"!

5. Keeping diabetes under control. Yes!

6. Having lots of energy!

7. Seeing the "rolls" getting smaller...my back no longer looks like a busted can of bicuits! LOL!

8. No more laying down to zip up those jeans!

9. Have learned that healthy food can actually taste great! Who'd of thought?

10. Feeling better about myself, sexier, and more confident!

"be able to wear all the clothes in my closet"

This is a huge one for me!

And: compliments from my mother, envy from my sisters, feeling confident in a bikini, thighs not touching, being smaller than my lanky boyfriend.

  1. Compliments!
  2. Feeling good in my skin now. {Sexy! Hot!}
  3. Being able to look at myself in a full mirror.
  4. Loving my curves, tone, and shape.
  5. Jeans, and little black dresses.
  6. Shopping in the front of the store, and not the back.
  7. More clothing options.
  8. Being able to feel your babies arms wrap around you.
  9. Being able enjoy the outside world.
  10. ( Drum Roll) Leaving the old size, and stepping into the new you.

These are mines, and I would like to add.. To beable to shop for the perfect wedding dress number's of pounds lighter.Cry

1. Not dreading clothes shopping, and especially shopping for pants. At 5'2, finding that the size 3 jeans don't fit and in a certain style I need a size 5 doesn't reduce me to tears the way it did when the size 11s didn't fit and I needed to try on the size 13s. Buying size small shirts and size 4 pants.

2. Feeling better about my body and having more confidence.

3. Getting to wear a bikini this summer and feeling a lot less self-conscious than I did before.

4. Buying a slinky dress for my fall formal next month instead of the style of dress I'm so used to buying--the A-line dress that would best hide my lower half.

5. Not feeling self-conscious about eating in front of my parents, like they're monitoring every bite that I eat.

6. Compliments. :-)

7. Feeling like I look cute in my clothes, and worrying less about 'looking fat'.

8. Being in better shape!

9. Being considered 'tiny'--I'm only 5'2 and now my weight is in proportion to my height. I'm a normal weight for my height, but considering so many of my friends gained weight in college, and they're all taller than me to begin with, I'm the smallest of the group.

10. The feeling of accomplishment. After years of lamenting my weight and wishing it would just disappear, I finally made a change. And I'm so happy with it. :-)

1.  Get into my skinny clothes

2.  Go on Sierra Club trips and not sink the canoe or bring up the rear on the hike

3.  Cut own toe nails

4.  Easier time using little stall in bathroom

5.  Get down the aisle on a plane and sit in seat comfortably

6.  Cross my legs (really miss this wearing skirts)

7.  No more rubbing thighs

8.  Ride bicycle

9.  Step and yoga classes

10.  Men paying me attention instead of ignoring me

11.  Being my smallest size ever as an adult

12. Skin rashes go away

13.  No more rolls (not the cinnamon kind either), no more gut, no more buffalo butt or thunder thighs

Wow - great topic!  I'll add mine, even though some of them are repeats of what was said above...

1) Wearing skirts in the summer with bare legs and not having my thighs chafe.

2) Re-discovering the wardrobe that I had to pack away because I couldn't fit into the clothes. 2a) Wearing clothes I love instead of wearing clothes just because they fit or hide my body (in my mind, at least). 2b) Having clothes that were too small now be too big. 2c) Shopping in the "normal" stores and not even having to buy the biggest sizes there. 2d) Clothes shopping is fun again!

3) Being able to cross my legs.

4) Having space in airplane seats and not worrying about the seatbelt not fitting. 4a) More comfortable in all public seating (restaurants, toilets, ballpark).

5) Feeling sexy!

6) Feeling like my outsides match my insides.

7) Not retaining water in my ankles. 7a) Not have the tourniquet lines (love that term!) from socks on my legs.

8) Not having the bulges on my back.

9) Being able to wear necklaces/rings/watches loosely, that were straining against the flesh before.

10) Making a positive first impression.

11) Junk food no longer owns me.

12) Not being the "fat girl". 12a) Not feeling like my inability to cope with food is advertised on my body for all to see. 12b) Enjoying treats in front of people without worrying about them thinking "No wonder she's so fat."

13) Enjoying exercise, looking forward to it, and feeling full of energy every day.

14) Running into people who haven't seen me in a while and not wanting to hide because I look so bad. 14a) Enjoying the compliments from those people.

Wow ! So motivating ! I'm definitely favoriting this page.

I was feeling a bit bad since I cheated on my diet yesterday, but this gave me a brand new motivation to continue ! :D

I just want to hear someone say... "Oh whatever what to you weigh like 5 pounds?" again...  Being in a post baby body IS HARD on the self esteem...

i wanna feel beautiful     Embarassed

I used to feel beautiful back then.

i'm going with the same response i gave to the "what i love about losing weight" thread:

admiring my own ass in the mirror.

actually, i got a little boost yesterday.  i was on campus waiting to meet a research participant and used the washroom (because it was before noon, and before noon i ALWAYS have to pee, and i had time).  i walked out of the stall and saw myself in the mirror and i was, like, holy!  i'm slim!  i'll bet people describe me as SLIM!

considering most of my research participants are anorexic and that's pretty-much consuming my brain right now, i think that's pretty good ;)

I have a lot of things to say in response to this!

#2: For a long time I felt so gross that I didn't want to do ANYTHING but go right to sleep!  I was so embarrassed to take my clothes off in front of my boyfriend, even in pitch black!

#5: My diabetes has NEVER been under good control.  I've been trying (kind of) hard for the past few months and I've been on CC for about a month.  I have a check-up next Tuesday and I hope my A1C has dropped!

#7: A busted can of biscuits! HAHAhahahaha

#8: Yes, #9: Yes, and #10: YES!

This is a great thread, I'm glad I found it. :)

I love these lists - anybody else want to add their Top Ten?

1) Being able to wear the clothes I like and that are appropriate...Can't wear sweaters to a club :S haha

2) Being flexible again. I've danced for years and my fat gets in the way of stretching

3) Regaining my pretty face. My face was a little round to begin with and it got so much worse with weight gain

4) Feeling healthier in general- stronger, more stamina, etc

5) Training myself to enjor treats in moderation. It actually feels better now to enjoy one cookie instead of gobbling down five.
