Torment at the Polls
I got yelled at because I was using my cell phone at the polling place today. I turned it off and kept quiet. Then some AHOLE with a little kid comes in. She's about 2 and very cute. I kept hearing her squeal and then I kept hearing a squeak. It sounded like one of those dog toys. I kept looking around and guess who it was? The little girl of course.
She had shoes that squeaked with every step. Squeak squeak squeaky squeaky squeak. And the AHOLE dad was letting her run around the whole polling place. Everyone started looking around and glaring at him. Did he pick her up? NO. Did he slip her shoes off? NO.
No cell phone in the world could have been more annoying than that litte kid and her AHOLE dad.
Oh, and who on earth would buy those things for their kid? And why on earth would anyone let their kid wear them out in public? And if grandma thought they were cute, they'd only be at her house.
Were you actually in a booth or were you just using your cell phone while you were still waiting in line? If you were still waiting in line, I would have told the person who yelled at you to shove it....but then again, I'm pregnant and hormonal right now.
I was in line waiting. I got yelled at by one of the poll workers. I really wanted to go up to her and tell her that the kid was more annoying than my phone and ask her to do something about it. But I was feeling really mean and bitchy cuz the squeaking was driving me crazy and I knew I'd be over the top and make a fool of myself.
So for once I managed self-restraint.
Wow. Last I checked, it wasn't against the rules to *ghasp* talk while waiting in line. Especially if you weren't yelling or holding up the line. Sounds like the poll worker was being a tad unreasonable.
Sounds like you did, indeed, show more self-restraint than I would have. Or maybe I'm just getting more bitchy.....
My step-daughter's mom bought SD a pair. Hmmm...I wonder if she thought I would leave them on SD just to be reminded of what a b* she is.
runs through thread purely for torment

I can picture my MIL buying those for SD if she were young enough for them. I can also picture me and B throwing them away as soon as she left.
I told B the story and he hates annoying noises too. He even said if his mom were to be dumb enough to buy them, he'd throw them out as soon as he could.

hee hee. For some reason, this post amuses me. At least the father wasn't spouting haiku, right?
I'm sure the thought of me using self-restraint is rather amusing.

That was my first thought when I figured out it was the girl's steps causing the squeaks. It was exactly like a dog toy. Only worse.

i went to a haunted house this weekend - one half was just clowns - i laughed and giggled through the first one with no clowns - i grabbed my bf and his duaghter and put them between clowns and me - i couldnt even look at them - bf and his girl thought i was really entertaining - shes like...do you think all clowns are scary or just the ones that are trying to be scary? she was sincerely trying to wrap her head around my fear of clowns.

yeah, this?!
Wait, they deliberately make shoes that squeak now? I read the post and thought it was just sneakers on a polished floor. If they're making this on purpose, how obnoxious!

Check out how they market them.
