Does a "total body flush" work?

Does taking supplements made to "flush" your system like "flush the fat" or "total body flush" really aid in short or long term weight loss?
Answer
I cannot find solid scientific evidence that a "total body flush" aids in weight loss. People lose weight by flushing because they drop their caloric intake during the flush. They also lose water from supplements that have a diuretic and laxative effect. Don't do a detox fast for more than a few days because, after day one, you break down muscle, which will decrease your calorie requirements in turn. For a different point of view, read about detox diets from the Guide to Alternative Medicine at About.com.
