2009 TOTAL BODY Makeover
Now that the excitement from the holidays is over, we can finally settle in and get ready to start our new year!
This club is for people who want to set a goal for themselves in 2009, whether it be to lose weight, gain weight, tone up, tone down, be in better health, develop a better diet, or even just to learn.
BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER, PLEASE DO NOT JOIN THIS CLUB IF YOU HAVE DIFFICULTY COMMITTING TO THINGS. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR QUITTERS HERE! The purpose of this club is to inspire and motivate people, and watching people drop out continually because they lose interest or tell themselves they can't do it are not good forms of encouragement.
This club will last a year ~ that's right, we're going through until 2010. You can join at any time, just make us aware of your goals. :)
THIS CLUB'S START DATE WILL BE FEBRUARY 1ST, 2009. SIGN-UPS LAST THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AS THERE IS NO SET GOAL DATE OR SET GOAL - EACH GOAL VARIES DEPENDING ON THE PERSON.
Remember, this is more than just a weight-loss club. It's a club for people who want to change their overall appearance, health and attitude.
I will be posting several times a week various exercises, recipes, and health information for people interested in learning more. If you try any of the exercises or recipes I post, let me know how you liked them! If you agree or disagree with my information, please tell me why! (Be polite and courteous, cite your sources or reasons for believing so, and don't state anything as fact unless you can back it up!)
Check-Ins will be EVERY THURSDAY. Because this is not restricted to weight-loss only, you can post whatever your current results are for whichever goals you set for yourself - i.e. "My BMI is down .07%" or "My abs are finally starting to show."
There is no common goal in this club. Just post your info and what you plan to do to have the body you want by 2010 - for instance, you can say, "Hi, I'm ______ and I want to lose/gain _____ lbs. by __/__/__."
I'll start. You can either choose to follow this format, or create your own.
About Me: My name is Katherine and I currently stand at 5'6" tall and weigh 168.8 pounds. My BMI is 27.70% and I need to lose 25 pounds to have average health, or lose 32 pounds to have optimum health. Because I am very muscular for a female, my weight loss will be calculated primarily in inches, not pounds. My goal measurements are 36/24/36 (taken several years ago, before I decided to neglect my diet), my goal weight is 136 and my goal toning is butt, stomach and chest. Aside from weight loss, my other goals include having whiter teeth, healthier hair and clearer skin.
Month-to-Month Goal Plan (can end whenever you feel you've reached your goal):
By March 1st, I want to have lost 10 - 15 lbs, and be able to run for 5 minutes without gasping for air.
By April 1st, I want to be able to notice toning starting to show, have lost 15 - 20 lbs, and be able to run for 10 minutes without gasping for air.
By May 1st, I want to be able to lift 1.5 times what I lift now, have lost 20 - 25 lbs, and be able to run 15 minutes without gasping for air.
By June 1st, I want to have reached my goal weight (32 lbs lost) and 50% (at least) of my goal toning, and be able to run 20 minutes without gasping for air.
By July 1st, I want my diet to have changed significantly to whole, organic foods, unprocessed, natural foods high in protein, fiber and antioxidants. I want to no longer feel the need to go out to eat, and be able to resist the urge when friends ask me to restaurants where nothing is under 2,000 calories.
By August 1st, I want to be 100% happy having successfully accomplished my goals.
What I'm Aiming For: Better body, better overall health, healthier diet, less stress, better endurance, more energy, more willpower, whiter teeth, better hair, better skin
My Game Plan (How I Will Reach It):
- Only buy fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh meat, fish and whole foods, and occasionally incorporating nuts, yogurt and soy products into my diet, along with whole wheat and grains.
- Take a multivitamin daily (I currently take Centrum Performance).
- Determine how many calories and grams of fiber, protein, carbs and fat I should consume per day (www.mypyramid.gov).
- Go to the gym five times per week.
- Cut out most fast food at first, eventually cutting out all fast food as I advance.
- Eat less oil and fat to help significantly clear up my skin.
- Consume foods rich in Vitamins B, C and E for better hair.
- Finally invest in those expensive little whitening strips for my teeth, and keep up on it every week.
- "Eat-Clean" for better overall radiance.
My Reward: Confidence!
And there you have it! Now, that wasn't so hard, was it? :p
A suggestion for running...I was not a runner until about 6 months ago. I hated it and always got the side cramp or was gasping for air. I did this program called "Couch to 5K" and now I can run 5K with no problems. Just google "Couch to 5K". It gives you week by week workouts. I had to repeat a few weeks, so don't get discouraged if you can't move to the next week when you are supposed to. It sounds like you are really into goal setting - and this plan helps you set goals. Good luck!
Wow, there seems to be a lot of goals at stake here. Katherine, you have it all planned out and this is awesome, however, "life happens" what I would do is have a plan "B" in case you have a set back some where along the way. Especially with the 'going out to eat with friends' this could be an awesome reward for each goal you have set for each month. Give yourself a reward along the way. Eating out with family and friends is a great break and you will be surprise to find Applebees is notorious for weight watcher meals and they're great! Good luck. Let us know how you do!!!

try couch to 5k! I started the 4th week yestarday, and you have to run for 5 minutes. I was so proud of myself for making it through that I nearly cried!
Our stats are very very close. I'm 38 years old, 5'6" and currently 172 (that is down from 199). I got down to 169 just before Thanksgiving but quit doing anything for the last 2 months. I started again in the beginning of Jan. I want to be down to about 140 but I'm not sure if that is too low. I haven't been down that low since college. I guess I don't remember how small that is.
I am not as concerend about the weight amount. I just want to lose inches and get in better shape. I do weigh myself every day but I don't freak out about the number, I usually only count it one day a week. I have lost about 30 pounds but I am still wearing the same pant size so I'm not quit sure what is going on there. I was working out almost daily usually taking Sundays off but my husband leaves for work later and I find it very difficult to go downstairs to work out when he is there (its all in my head). I get up get dressed and put on my shoes but talk myself out of going downstairs while he is still home. So that is my goal-JUST DO IT and quit talking myself out of it.
I try to eat healthy and I do fairly well during the week while I am at work. I bring carrots, peppers, cuks, tomatoes and other veggies to work and snack all day. I usually have oatmeal or something little along with skim milk in the morning. I am really not in to extreme healthy. I couldn't get my family to eat it. So I usually eat normal foods and meals I am just trying to eat less-a lot less but I want to be a normal person-not a dieter and I want to be able to keep it up after the weight is gone. I feel like if I stay normal (with my portion control changes) I have not made these drastic changes and should be able to maintain better. Saturdays and Sundays are extremely hard for me eating wise. I usually eat like crap and I don't really have an excuse. I could just as easily grab an apple instead of chips or cheese-but I haven't got there yet. Another goal-eating better on the weekend.
I have been doing a power sculpt DVD and 30 day shred. I have a treadmill and put it on an incline of 7-8 and walk at about 3-4 miles an hour and every 2 minutes run for 30 seconds. Before Thanksgiving I could do 3 miles in about 32-33 minutes-so I want to get back there and improve on that. I really need to work out more and be more careful on the weekends.
So there are a few of my goals and where I want to be.
Good Luck to you-stay with it.
"Hi, I'm Amber and I want to lose 100 lbs. by 2/1/2010."........Hey my goal is crazy but I am 25 and moving to New york......I realize this is the time to do it......I have never been this big in my life.....time to change........Oh and I have also signed up for a 39 mile walk run for breast cancer......I will do this........By August I want to be down 50 more pounds at least and running 2 miles easy.......

SW: 252.5 (january 2008)
CW: 221.8

I would like to drink only 1 diet soda a day.
I would like to move into the dorms at my college in Fall 2009 (i want to make sure i dont wimp out and not move).
I would like to have made at least 2 good friends from college by Feb 2010.
Hi, I'd like to join! :D I don't have a significant amount of weight to lose, just a few vanity pounds, but I'd like this to be a healthy weight loss and maintenance.
Name: Momo
Age: (by the time this starts) 15
Height: 5'4
CW: 130
Goals:
- By the end of February 2009: 125 consistently
- By the end of March 2009: 120 consistently
- By the end of May 2009: Be happy with my weight wherever that is - I still haven't figured out where I want to get to.
- Measurements: 24" waist, 34" hips
- Get my 1 mile time down to 7 min. by June 2009
- Exercise at least 4x a week
- Don't just eat low-cal foods, but healthy foods that are higher in calories too.
- Limit artificial sugars
- Final goal: Be comfortable with who I am.
In order to achieve many of these goals, I need better will power. I cave very easily and the only reason I'm not heavier than I am is because I've been pretty active most of my life so far. I've just stopped my once main activity and need to control myself better.
I hope this club doesn't die! I've joined others that have pretty quickly....
Yep I'm in!

Hey everyone,
Thanks to everyone who joined, we're going to have a great year! I'll address each one of you personally soon; I haven't been able to get on all week because I've had a bad cold - hopefully it goes away soon!
This post is just me checking-in to see how everyone's doing and make sure you guys are still interested! I'll be forming a group as soon as I get better ~ right now I don't fell well enough to sit in front of the computer any longer.
This sounds like a great idea! If there's room for one more, i would love to participate!!
My name is Samantha, I'm 18 and I am a college freshman!
Height - 5'10''
Current Weight - 152
Goal Weight - 130
(my goal weight may seem low for my height, but i do have a very small frame)
My overall goals are to start eating healthier; more fruits and vegetables and less junk food and anything fried. I also want to start running more and improve my stamina. As welll as get a better body which i hope will bring me more confidence.
My motivations include that me and my girls will be spending a week at the beach in June so i def want to look good for that, summer in general and the last being that i want to get a tattoo on my hip bone, but i refuse to do so til i get down to a more resonable weight!
feel better deloughy. im still interested.
My name is Susan. I'm 5'6" and my current weight is 165. My goal weight is 135 by July 1, 2009. Three years ago I worked hard and lost 20lbs but when my gym closed I allowed that to be my excuse for not maintaining. So I'm back this year more motivated than ever. I want to lose the weight not just to look good (although that doesn't hurt) but I want to be in excellent health. My husband and I want to begin a family and we plan on trying at the end of the year. I want to be in shape and motivated to stay in shape throughout a pregnancy and beyond. I need to focus on portion control and boredom eating.
I look forward to checking in weekly. It really helps having someone hold you accountable for your goals.
Hi, I'm Anila, new to Calorie Count. I am 26 yrs old, 5'.4", 235 lbs. and my goal weight is 150 lbs. by 01/08/09. I know its a tall order but I am one of the most presistent people I know.
My motivation includes a family reunion in July and I want to look good for that. I have started portion control and weightloss excercises.
I have also skipped sugar and fast food out of the menu completely and added fresh fruits, nuts, soups and whole grains in my meals.
I think alot of my weight gain which is all in the last 3 year btw is because I stopped looking at myself and something I found very motivational was the VirtualMe portal http://www.mvm.com/en/index.php where you can see a virtual model of what you look like to others and what you would look like at your goal weight.
I'm Brit. 5'9. 22 years old. SW 280, CW 265. (Lowest weight in the last decade: 230!)
I'd like to get down to a size 12. I've always been big. I was a size 18 by middle school...I don't want to be skinny--I don't want to be small...but I'm ready to be healthier and...on the higher side of my "healthy weight." I don't know my "goal weight"--I'd love to be under 200 for the first time since childhood...but 180, 160--whatever. Just...better, healthier.
My first goal is to be in my too-tight-to-wear jeans by March 1st.
I want to stop being ruled by the scale!
I want to continue working out 5 hours a week.
And that's all I've got for now...my goals are vague, I guess...Just...a size 12 in a year. Less than 200 pounds. Smaller, healthier, happier...with more dresses. :) Let's go.
I'm up for it. I'm Lauren, and am 21 years old, 5'10" and currently 168 lbs (down from 180 last March...have definitely fallen off the wagon a couple times in between!). My goal is approximately 150 lbs, but since I've been either at the high end of healthy or slightly overweight since high school, it depends somewhat on how I look and feel when I get close. I'm a veterinary student, so the biggest struggle for me is balancing exercise and weight loss with the insane amounts of time spent in school and studying, while trying to maintain a social life as well. I'm two weeks into the new semester of classes and am figuring out some good staple foods and recipes. I love outdoor activities, and when I have time, exercise isn't a problem - so far I've been doing a variety of activities, including rock climbing (my school has an awesome rock wall in the gym!), running, ultimate frisbee and rollerblading, as well as more typical gym workouts. Actually, I played frisbee yesterday and was really pleased with how many calories it burned, according to my heart rate monitor. Definitely a fun workout.
I don't have a specific goal date, as I'm focusing primarily creating a deficit through good eating and exercise and so far the weight is coming off. It would be nice to be ready for a bikini by May/June though, since I might be working near the beach this summer! Anyways, I think that's enough about me for now. I look forward to getting to know and losing with you ladies!
Hi, I'm Nicole and at 5 ft 9 i am 135lbs.
My goal is to maintain my weight and change my mentality to realise that losing more weight will only make me skinny fat, not toned and fit.
My goal is to tone up my stomach and hip area because once i've done that, i will have a lot of confidence :) I am giving myself a year to do this lol.
Another few goals i have are
- to stress less about little things
- to wear my retainer at least 3 times a week
- to find something i like about myself nearly every day
- to love who i am :)
