TOTM Question

Hey guys! quick question....

ok so i've been in maintenance mode for some time...granted i've gained maybe 2-3 pounds back since i met my goal, but im okay with that....

my question is....

While i have had some cheat meals maybe a couple times a week, i always try to compensate for them with exercising each day. i eat healthy small meals and snacks through out the day if i know i'm going to be eating richer foods than normal for dinner. in the past few days my weight has gone up and up!! it's kinda freaking me out! i am expecting for my "visitor" to come next wednesday. is this why my weight is going up? from water retention? i can't really tell a diference in my body, but the scale's gone up!

help! :)

anyone out there?

It really could be any number of things:

could have been eating more salty foods lately, causing water retention

could have water retention from that time of month coming

could be drinking LESS water than normal, again water retention

generally if it's just been a couple days, it's probably not REAL weight gain. If it's been weeks, then maybe make sure you are still logging calories for a little while to make sure you're still on track.

Have you switched your workout routine at all?

i try to jog outside but by the time i get home, it's dark outside and i dont feel safe. i've been doing the eliptical b/c it's easier on my joints! but i always change up the routine i do so it's never the same thing each day...does that even matter? i have slacked off on my weight lifting, so i probably need to pick that up again!

I would say that it's just bloating from PMS. If you are positive that you've been working off the extra calories, and you haven't surpassed your intake enough to gain, just don't worry about it. So many times I've freaked out because of water retention, only to realize I'd actually lost weight anyway, by the following week.

Drink lots of water and maybe watch your sodium intake. Good luck!
