Traditional Karate

Hi,

I've been practicing for 5 years. I'm a red belt: it's slow progress, but the journey isn't about the belt. It's about the self exploration, confronting your weaknesses, and building your strengths.

I've been overweight throughout my training, with thyroid and blood pressure issues. I recently got both under control and lost 20 lbs last year. I have kept it off and want to lose 15 more this year.

If anyone has any training and nutrition advice, I would certainly welcome it.

Ossu!

I don't know if this pertains to karate, but for me getting enough calories to have a good workout is important.

Hi Sara,

Yes, actually, I think that WW was too restrictive given that CC estimates my calorie burn for my 75 minute work out to be 885 calories. I did a nutritional analysis of the 1450 calories I need to lose weight and I should be getting 90 to 100 grams of protein! I know for a fact that I haven't been eating that much protein. Further analysis revealed that I eat too much fat--and not the good kind. So, just like martial arts, there is always leaning to be done.
