my trainer gets creepy guys to go away
i don't know to which forum i should be posting this, but...
today my awesome trainer and i went to the beach, a really nice breezy day for chicago--lake michigan. away from us, maybe 30 yards, this guy was all propped up on his chin, lying out like watching tv, but he was watching us. so i told my guy that it was freaking me out especially because we were doing the yoga portion and i know i totally show off my undies while doing that, no matter how hard i try. (trust me, it's not sexy) so my trainer shouted to him, "why are you watching us?" and he said "i like you!" and my guy said "you've been liking us long enough, you should go someplace else." so we continue on w/ the workout and at some point, like 20 mins. later, i realized he had only moved 10 ft. back, under the shade of a tree.
so my trainer goes over and gives him this kind of speech: "look, you're being really creepy. i bet you're not a creepy guy, right? but if you are watching me and my client then that's creepy. i think you should go further away."
so i totally got shorted on the ass-whupping i wanted to see, but it was a totally awesome moment and i thought i'd share it with you.
That's awesome!
I hate creepy guys -- they're gross!
Your trainer sounds really cool :-)
Glad the trainer stood up for you. That's cool.
Other hand, it's a public space. There's a reason I work out in my garage.
And more than it being a public space, it's the Lake. Honestly, depending on what part of the Lakefront you were on, "going in harm's way" is the only phrase that springs to mind. Depending on the Beach/Harbor, your trainer should have known better.
Either way, scan the Craig's List Missed Connections for a few days, and I'm sure your guy will turn up so you can set up the ass whooping.
I agree that the guy had his rights to be there. BUT I also think it does not hurt for someone to tell another when their behavior is creepy. There are folks who really don't understand that and they actually benefit from having some feedback. The asswhooping would have been totally inappropriate, however.
Still, when someone won't take his eyes off of others, that IS creepy. Yes, he may have the right to be there, but there is a whole beach of folks to watch, right? So telling him he was being creepy is ok, but telling him to shove off was over the line, IMHO.
A: we normally meet at his house but his father was staying with him, so we went to the beach...which is where my first ten sessions were and i felt perfectly comfortable.
B: i don't think you understand the mindset here in the 'hood. looking is okay, kids love to watch me hit some big guy, and the police even stopped to say "no fighting in the park!" while giving us a big thumbs up. but staring here is an open act of aggression, and my guy handled it beautifully.
C: the ass-whuppin' was a joke, y'all. oh my goodness.
Okay, anyone doing yoga on the beach with a trainer has no right to use the phrase "the mindset here in the 'hood," even ironically.
Jesus people relax! All she's saying is that she's glad her trainer stood up for her. yay for you!
i don't live somewhere nice like near north ave. beach or oak street or one of those nice places. i live in an impoverished neighborhood with LOTS of crime. the dude watching me was drinking a 40, for crying out loud, and people smoke weed and crack on the beach. **ALONG with all the families, groups grilling, people playing volleyball and swimming, and other normal beach activities.** i am learning kickboxing/thai boxing and was just stretching--hence the yoga positions. some of you people are pretty damn critical and seem fairly devoid of a sense of humor, to be perfectly honest. if you don't know what someone's situation is, maybe you should take it all with a grain of salt and not be so f'ing preachy. i'm sorry i even tried to give you a fitness-related chuckle. i'll just tell my mom next time, she'll at least laugh.

LOL ... what do you expect doing yoga at a public beach? your trainer kinda looked the fool in this situation if you want to put this up for public discussion... he has no right to tell anyone what theycan and cant look at in a publ;ic spacing ... and whats the comment about wanting to see an ass whipping ? what a lame thread!!!
I disagree with those saying this creepy guy could stare at whatever he wanted too.... What would you guys do if this guy was staring at your child playing on the beach? Then he would be a "pervert" right?
There's no way you can expect people to not watch other people - but staring creepily for a long period of time without ever looking away - then i think your trainer had every right to say something to him.
