training for a 10k run
i am curently training to run 10k on the 23rd of may. do have any low fat food that will fill me up without me having to dig threw my frigde and eating everything in site. and any pointers, if i force myself really hard i can run 2k on my treadmill. i run at a really slow pace hoping to speed it up a little bit.

The advice for 5 K applies well to all distances. The key is to build up slowly. I'm a slow runner in general too but I run for fitness and fun, not to win races.

Me too!!! But my ten 10 K is April 19th. I'm finding that I really love training for it.... I definitely didn't think I would. What's really helped me is the Sun Run Training schedule, its a 13 week schedule but since you're already up to 2k you should be able to start in at week 4 or 5. It's awesome, gives you pointers on how fast to run and gives you walk/run option too. If you feel like it's too easy then try out the Sun Run Faster but you shouldn't use that one unless you feel comfortable running (not jogging) for 30 minutes at a time. Both plans are from SportMed BC, if you follow them they'll help you not overdo it and hurt yourself. I heart the first one big time. Running makes you hungry! I'm not much in the way of nutrition, but a few things have worked for me. I went to a 5 meals a day plan and always stayed just a litttle bit hungry. It's important to figure out your calorie requirements to do this. Smoothies with a bit of whey or soy protein in them are excellent snacks/recovery meals with little to no fat.
