I don't know about anyone else, but i'm getting really sick of the 'no trans fat' claims on foods that HAVE TRANS FATS. I picked up a package of Quaker Peanut Butter chocolate chip granola bars after reading on the side of the box that there was "no trans fat" and "no high fructose corn syrup". and sure enough, after a look at the list paragraph of ingredients, partially hydrogenated oils was listed not once but twice! And then at the bottom in little asteriks it says, "adds a dietarily insignificant amount of trans fat".

Personally, I don't really care if it is dietary insignificant, but I do care that they are allowed to tote away claiming that there is none! Am I being unreasonable here?

No, you're not being unreasonable but a lot of companies get away with things like that. Say a product that has 4 calories per serving is capable of getting away with saying their product has 0 calories. Sucks, huh?

Really lame so that's why I stay MOSTLY away from processed things/items because I don't trust labels.

You're not being unreasonable at all. I'm sick of companies getting away with that stuff too.

That's not unreasonable at all, considering trans fat is harmful even in very small amounts. It sucks that we have to check for things like that and products are allowed to openly lie about their contents.

I'm glad you at least read the label!

For me, I don't really need to worry about these ingredients because I don't eat packaged foods very much... but it is pretty irking to know that companies can still tote .5 grams per serving of trans fat and list it as having NONE! Makes no sense in my mind, but then again, does life ever make complete sense?!
