Traveling Outside the US
My boyfriend and I want to travel outside the US for vacation this summer. Neither of us have ever been anywhere but the US and Canada, and are getting passports as we speak. We'll probably be going over July 4 weekend, maybe 4 days/3 nights, or 5 days/4 nights. We don't want to go anyplace VERY expensive, or that will be TOO hard to get around (language barriers, transportation, etc) with it being our first time out of the country. We eventually want to see it all (ha!) but want to start off slow. I was thinking some place like Brazil... Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!!
Iceland - i have a movie recommendation: Reykjavik 101. i think it gav a great pic of daily life.
Iceland is pretty bankcupt, isnt it? Might be nice to spent our dollars there.
Hi - I know it is far away - but what the heck - this is the first big trip make the most of it - AUSTRALIA. Flights there are insanely cheap at the moment. You could fly there for less than $800 each which is fantastic. You would need at least 2 weeks to really see it and I know you were only thinking of a shorter stay but with prices like this....
Australia is absolutely beautiful. I have never met anyone who has been there who doesn't love it. The beaches are fabulous and the lifestyle is laid back and you will definitely relax. Sydney would be the best stop for a shorter trip - like only 2 weeks.
I am from Australia but live in New York now. I am amazed at how many people I meet want to go there but never actually do it. You only live once.
My grandparents have been to Australia twice and LOVED it, so I definitely want to go at some point!! Yes, this trip this summer will be short & sweet - just enough really to get our feet wet with traveling outside of the US. My boyfriend just started a new job in Jan and won't have many vacation days by then, plus we don't want to spend a ton of money right now. So we might opt for something like an all-inclusive place in the caribbean or somewhere else not too far away. I forget how much time flying someplace takes up! We'll definitely be saving money and vacation days over the next year so hopefully next year we can go somewhere fabulous!!
I am Europena so I suggest Europe:) re language barrier - almost everyone speaks english in germany and scandinavia. italy and france are beautiful. there are so many nice things to see and do here:)
