A treat for coffee drinkers

Quote  |  Reply
For all the coffee drinkers out there...a lil something different to try.  Add 1 tsp of ground cinnamon to your coffee grounds before brewing, then add milk & artificial sweetener to your cup of coffee! Mmmmm  This is really good & they say that cinnamon is good for diabetics & for weight loss (I dont know if those are true or not, but it does taste good! LOL)

Ohhh, that sounds really tasty. I'll try it this afternoon!
what a yummy sounding idea! i've tried to give up my favorite super high cal flavored coffee mate, this could be a nice alternative! i'm trying it tomorrow!
that sounds awesome! I will try that tomorrow...
and while we're on the topic of cool coffee ideas, i love blending 8 oz nonfat milk, ice, a tsp of finely ground coffee, and a little splenda to get me going in the morning!

I do that when I make my own coffee on the weekends - it is wonderful!  However, I have discovered that if you have actual cinnamon sticks, that they work a little better for flavor.

For a nice "gingerbread" coffee, in addition to the cinnamon, add a few whole cloves, some grated ginger, and some nutmeg.  MMMMMM (great on cold morning).

You can also add vanilla or chocolate protein powder.
I add ground cinnamon to my scrambled eggs! And put a lil lite syrup over them!

I just can NOT bear to put artificial sweetener of any kind in my coffee.  I can drink a Diet Coke, no problem, but in coffee that stuff tastes awful.  I think it may have to do with the heat.

Anyway, coffee is the only beverage I sweeten, so I go for the real deal, and it's not a huge part of my calorie count... UNLESS I'm at Starbuck's, in which case I get one of their nonfat, sugarfree lattes.  For some reason, the artificial sweetener they use in their sugarfree syrups doesn't taste nasty.  I wonder why that is?

But putting cinnamon in with the coffee grounds?  What a great idea!  Thanks!

Yum! I tried the cinnamon in my coffee this morning and it was so tasty! Thanks for the great idea!
a spoonful of cocoa powder in your cup is good too.  would prob need some sweetner, too, though.
What a good message to spot before putting coffee on this morning. Thanks for the suggestion! --With apophenia's caveat for me as well. After hearing my in-law (biochem prof) explain the composition and reactions with heat of aspartame, I decided I could afford 16 calories for the tsp of sugar.

What about adding a drop of vanilla (or any flavor) extract? I love my French Vanilla Coffee-Mate, but the calories are pretty high. Has anyone tried a liquid flavoring? It can't be that high in calories for a drop or two.
When I'm all out of flavored coffee, I do this as well. I also have been known to add some cocoa powder to the grounds.
I try to avoid adding the cinnamon though, because I eat a LOT of cinnamon every day, & I have low blood pressure to begin with... cinnamon's been shown to help lower blood pressure, & I really feel it on many days. But I just can't/don't want to kick my cinnamon habit =/
