I love Ice cream & Fro Yo but I need some good advice on what to buy to eat as a treat that is health version of these..

Both of those are ok in moderation (instead of a gallon get a pint), but you can put your choice of yogurt in the freezer, or freeze a banana (I LOVE them, I have 1 a day), or grapes. Apparently I really enjoy freezing things :D

Skinny Cow has some good options...one of them being an ice cream sandwich with 140 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, and 3 grams of fiber.

Frozen Yoplait whips chocolate yogurt - it is GREAT!!!

If you want a real treat, find the very, very nicest, highest-quality, most expensive, luxurious ice-cream you can find.   Then eat a small amount and savour it.  That's going to be 10x more of a treat than anything you buy just because it's lower in calories per 100g

We have a little ice-cream maker at home and one of our favourites is to melt very expensive dark chocolate into fresh double cream, thin it with a little milk, add some sugar, a few chunky chips of the same dark chocolate, a spoon or two of brandy and press 'go'... It's so thick and filling that, quite honestly, it's impossible to eat more than a tiny amount.  But so worth it!!

Enjoy.

Fudgecicle has some wonderful, sugar free pops that are only 40 calories a peice and taste creamy and choclaty!  Very satisfying!

I bought 100cal low-fat fudge bars from wegmans.  I have taken to placing sliced banana on it and sticking in back in the freezer for a few minutes.  Tasty and a little more nutritious :P

^This. We used to make green tea icecream with our icecream machine, it sounds strange but is actually really good. I kept ordering it at Japanese restaurants, but there's something much cooler about making your own.

i'm a really big fan of the weight watchers ice cream sandwiches. they are like, 140 cals and about 2g of fat and can satisfy my craving for the real thing!

I love green tea ice cream!  I live in Japan and green tea ice cream is everywhere.  It's totally one of my weaknesses.  My favorite is green tea Haagen Dazs, but it's 261 calories per 120 ml serving.  I switched to a 80 calorie per serving brand and it's not bad, but I still indulge in the Haagen Dazs every once in awhile.

-Buy a small scooper, and like Jane says, go for the good stuff.  4 tablespoon scoops fill a ramekin, and for a lot of ice creams this is only 70-80 calories.  Eat it slowly with a demitasse spoon, classy gelato style, and pretend you're in Italy. Upgrade it even more with a cup of strong coffee on the side.

-You can make ice cream go further without adding a lot of calories by mixing it half and half  with unsweetened low or no fat yogurt.  Mash the whole works together and eat it kind of lumpy.  Or throw it in the blender and turn it into a small smoothie. Yogurt sweetens up easily and there's very little sour taste.

Meryl: do you have the recipe for the green tea ice cream? I just bought an ice cream maker...hasn't come yet but looking for ideas!

My boyfriend makes it from a recipe he just has in his head... I'll ask him when he gets home tonight. Smile
