If i eat healthy , balanced low fat for 6 days with 10 - 20 percent fat and then on my 7th a high calorie meal eg. 50 percent fat- from this meal eg .....like a macdonalds mcvalue meal OR a choc muffin cafe style with mocca and for the rest of the da eat lightly around this treat whilst still staying within 1500 cals on the 7th day----can i maintain my weight?

As long as you stay within your calories it should not affect your weight overall.  You may have some fluid fluctuations depending on the meal/treat.

You should be fine. But it might be better not to make a habit out of it.

Personally, I find I am better able to maintain my healthy way of eating if I allow myself to "cheat" once a week.  I need a way to satiate my cravings or I know I would go crazy.  If your one day a week "cheat " works for you, go for it!

I just had my first 10 day non binge!----- on the 7th day i had my high calorie treat and this was a BIG CHANGE for me believe me-I was caught in the binge-starve cycle for many years .

Can one high calorie and high fat meal matter? It has given me something to look 4ward to- i just dont know how other ppl can give everything up and saty sane

Violetphish---is your treat a high calorie one? Mine would be like ice cream boat or american buttermilk pancakes with cream--something like this which is like 700-900 cals for the treat

1 meal a week shouldn't matter. What I personally try to do is do the whole cheat meal thing when I feel I need it, not just for the sake of doing it. Sometimes this works out to once a week, other times once every 3 weeks.
Dietdemons- I am in my 4th day, no binging, I know it is hard to say no to all the things around.  If allowing yourself one treat a week keeps you sane and going with your weightloss it is ok.  No one is dieting 100% of the time, it's actually healthier to shoot for say 90% that way you don't beat yourself up over not being perfect.  Just know that the scale will probably reflect the extra calories, temporarily.  You just go back to eating healthy and it will level off.  You are setting a good example for me and many others by finding ways to beat the cycle of binging.  I haven't quite decided my stratagy yet (I'm afraid allowing myself 1 treat will lead to a binge), but I'll keep going no matter what I do decide- Sat. was my last binge and I am going to keep it that way!!
My cheat is usually a high-calorie one  - like pizza, beer and ice cream.  But, I go back to eating normal the next day with no harm done!  :)

usually every saturday  I eat whatever I want.  Last saturday I ate a huge hero I made with chicken, some melted mozzarella, pretty much "the works" than had some chips throughout the day and at night had a few beers with my friends and although I obviously weighed heavier the next day, my weight still goes back down by monday morning, however by monday morning I'm looking forward to nothing but the next saturday to come lol
sounds great slash4221!!--- Im just hoping i can do the same and not always feel that after the treat is payback time for starvation and eating cucumber and egg whites ;)

Im looking 4ward to tomorrow!

I am on a really limited diet, but on the weekends I like to allow myself to eat the "no-no" foods in small quantities to give my family the feeling I'm relaxed - since this diet thing really makes them feel as if I am uptight all the time about food; as long as it doesn't take me over my calories it doesn't seem to hurt.  Actually, it sometimes helps to bump me off the plateau!

As an example, I'm not allowed alcohol, ice cream, or popcorn on my restricted diet.  Last weekend on Friday night I had a glass of wine with my husband and sister, and on Saturday I shared a kid's scoop of no sugar added ice cream at an ice cream parlor with my husband while we were out on a much-needed date; I just made sure my total calories for the days were adjusted around the treats!
