Surprising to me, Im attending the Vegas 2008 Star Trek convention.  Ive not seen any of the movies or shows although I am currently watching the original series in sequence online, having just finished season one.  I am a Nimoy fan.

I wasnt going to go although wouldve loved to hear Nimoy speak at it which he'll be doing but when I learned you could purchase an autograph and/or photo opportunity, I was already booking my flight.

Im enjoying the original series so far although doubt I would were it not for Spock.  I really misidentified the show - thought it was all sci fi shoot em up and didnt realize the emphasis on the relationship between characters.

Im always hearing about how many trek fans there are but never knew of one.  Wondering if there are any fans here or people who know of them.

I love Star Trek, gosh as kids you couldn't pull me and my brothers away from the set.

I do not refer to myself as a trekkie, my cousins husband with the signed memorabilia covering his home office walls from stem to stern, now that's a trekkie.

Thats a serious trekkie!  I imagine I'll see bunches at the convention so trying to catch up in advance to appreciate my time there but probably one of the few leaving without bags of Trek stuff.  Well, maybe some Spock stuff - he's so handsome.

One of the funniest things about finally watching it is seeing Kirk/Shatner after having seen so many impressions to see he really ... did TALK ... with ... all THOSE pauses... and EMPHASIZED ... words ...

Yeah Shatner's a hoot.

I'm told you will have a feast for your eyes while attending. Please you must post all the doings when you get back!

Had a pair of Spock ears once.

Pretended I was a faery, my brothers set their phasers to stun and stole my dang ears while I played, uh, stunned.

Is it being held at the Star Trek Experiance at Las Vegas Hilton?

I got dragged there by my fella while were in Vegas as he is a HUGE Star Trek fan. However I am not but still enjoyed it. Apart from getting scared by a Borg that was walking around. The Klingon & Ferengi were most friendly though.

I'm so jealous. I wanna go :(

OOOH!!  ME!! ME!!  I wanna go!!

Of course, I'm one of those who will start arguments about who the better Captain was... Kirk or Picard.  There is a part of me that thinks the original was a bit hokey... but then again, so was the Next Generation.  Love Star Trek!!!

Live Long and Prosper!!!

I've watched almost every episode of almost every Star Trek series except for Enterprise, which I've seen none of. TNG is my favorite. <3 Patrick Stewart.

^^^^ I am the same as her. TNG is my favourite. Not a trekkie though, Star Wars was always my "thing".

Big Trek Fan. DS9 is the best, though Next Gen and Original are pretty decent too. :)

You guys SHOULD go!  It is at the Hilton, where they have the Star Trek Museum.  Heres the event site: https://www.creationent.com/cal/stlv.htm.

I thought it was very reasonable - 5day general admission $150 or $30/35 per day, including all the guest speakers/events (minus photos and autographs which you pay separately).  Well there are some specialty events for another fee.  Im doing just Nimoy Sunday with photo and autograph.

Wondering how strange it will seem that my items to be autographed are not Star Trek - Nimoys photo book and DVD Vincent.  I'll might be easily spotted as an imposter eventhough I do like the TOS series so far.  Might need to invest in some ears.  Mostly looking forward to the posing with Nimoy for the photo though ::blushes::

Im only into Spock Star Trek, its all about the Nimoy so glad he'll be gracing the new upcoming movie but have all the other movies to watch beforehand (although Ive seen tons of youtube clips).  Maybe its naive but I think its generous of him because he obviously doesnt need the money and from clips Ive seen, he really seems to enjoy it.
I like Star Trek, especially the original. I also watched a fair bit of Next Gen, but never got into any of the others.
I have always been a HUGE Star Trek fan, particularly TNG. (Yummy Patrick Stewart who should have won multiple Emmys!) If you like the original, you should Netflix TNG and see what you think. More awesome relationships, much better acting and superior special effects.

(Oh, and according to my friend whose PhD was actually in Science Fiction, the crazies are "trekkies," and the more sane ones are "trekkers.") :)

Oh, I am a HUGE trekkie...been watching it since I was about 5. TNG is my favorite series followed closely by Voyager. How bad am I? I could name a Next Generation episode within the first five minutes. Can you beat that? Wink

^5 to HK  Smile - Sisko kicks @ss.

I didn't see the big deal with Star Trek until Next Gen came along and my best friend got me into it in high school, and even then I still thought it was a little cheesy - at least until TNG really found it's stride and got good in the 3rd season.  When I met hubby in college, I found out what a real trekkie was.  He's big into scale modeling, and has made models, really good ones, of all his favorite Trek ships, and are now hanging from the rafters in our basement - kind of a Star Trek ship museum.  We have every single Star Trek episode and movie ever made - including "Enterprise" - in our DVD collection.  Our Christmas tree is graced by every Hallmark made Star Trek ornament (and yes, the Enterprise D is always battling it out with the Borg cube).

The Las Vegas Star Trek experience is really cool - I highly recommend it.  Although the best fun we had was when we went to Paramount Studios where they had a deal where they "green screened" you into an actual Star Trek mini-episode and record it for you. Hubby (fiance at the time) was the captain, and I was the Vulcan science officer.  Yes - we still have the tape, and no, I'm not sharing.  Smile

My hubby is amazed at my ability to give the title or plot line of an episode based on the opening 30 seconds of the teaser. (That ability is limited to TNG and DS9, though.)

I really like start trek I can easly see myself becoming obsessed with it if I nutured it your so lucky to go to a convention are you going to dress up, I specialize in the voyager series and have asked for it as my birthday pressent,

" My hubby is amazed at my ability to give the title or plot line of an episode based on the opening 30 seconds of the teaser. (That ability is limited to TNG and DS9, though.)" I can do that with charmed, its my "amazing talent"

Huge Trek fan here also.

My fav is probaby the TNG, though its a close call with the original.

I was hoping this would be a discussion about the movies Trekkies and Trekkies 2.    Nerds.

One of the best things about going to a convention is seeing all the people who dress up. When my firstborn was 2 we had a nightly routine of watching TNG. And when they advertised the Star Trek convention in Boise, she wanted to go! Eh, the Klingons were so amazing (they looked real and spoke Klingon). Anyway they scared the crap out of her...
