The trend line - question!
Hey everybody,
I'm a little curious about the trend line on my weight log. I have read that is meant to represent my "actuall" weight loss. Meaning that if i go up and down a bit.. the green line will show the avergae weight loss pattern.
However, I have not ONCE gone up in weight since i started this diet. I log my weight iusually once or twice every 3 days. My blue line is a constant down slope with some bits going down at a steeper angle than others. However the green line is ALWAYS miles away from the blue line. IT rests quite a bit above the blue line and has only ever been in contact with it once, when i entered my first weight entry.
Can anybody clarify how it works/what it is showing me?
Many thanks,
Bex
The trend line, as I understand it, is more for people who weigh themselves daily. If you weigh yourself daily you see the daily fluctuations up and down ane then the trend line show the general trend of your weight loss or gain.
It is simply an average of the last several entries in your weight log. I don't know how many entries it takes, but it seems to be about 7.
So if you are having consistent weight loss, it probably will not "catch up" to your actual values. It does help even out the fluctuations for us daily weighers!
I weigh daily and the trendline is my best friend! I can fluctuate .5 to 3 lbs in one day, so what motivates me is seeing my trendline continue to go down. Like Puh8 said, I think it's the average of either 7 or 10 weight entries.
We use a 20 day moving average algorithm.
Many thanks fo5r the info :)
