tricep question

Quote  |  Reply
I am wondering if tricep dips could cause numbness from the elbow down to the ring finger and pinkie?  I know this sounds weird but I have this numbness that just came about like 4 days ago and that is something that I have done different.  I did 30 tricep dips on a bench in the park that I had never been on.  Ok well thanks.

It could if you are straining the ulnar nerve (its the one you hit when you hit your funny bone).  It also depends on if its constant or intermittent.  My suggestion is to take that out of your routine for now and see if it gets better.  Try skull crushers they also work the triceps good!
hey ledl?

WHat are skull crushers? ( :

thanks!
you lay on your back with a weighted bar in both hands, with your elbows close to your head and keeping your upper arm still, lower the bar toward your forehead and then back up making sure you squeeze at the end.  I hope this makes sense.
Stop doing dips. Be careful you don't want to cause nerve damage. You can also do tricep kickbacks.

is it just plain numbness or is it a numbness that you would describe as painful (like a weird burning sensation, increased sensitivity/tingling sensation to the touch, any sense of pain)? any of this can be signs of nerve damage.
hey ledl...

think I could so this with hand weights? It's sort of awkward, but I think I'm doing it right. And I think the name makes sense now too--as I am the Queen Clutz.... =P
