Tricks of the trade?

Quote  |  Reply
I'm looking for some really easy home-type foods, mixtures, tricks, etc that help with weight loss. I've heard about apple-cider vinegar and might give that a try, but was wondering if anyone else had any little ideas that would be useful. also, if anyone has any ideas how to keep full, they would be greatly appreciated. I find myself eating when i'm not hungry, but for some reason thinking I am... weird. also, I find myself craving salt a lot... any good ideas to stop these cravings?? Thanks a mill!!!

spicy foods tend to satisfy me longer.  Also, drink lots of water....diet soda just makes me continue to crave sugar.  gum chewing works, as does brushing your teeth when you are hungry..... SALT??? hmm.....that I usually don't have a problem with..

good luck
Sorry for the repeat, but I just thought of something...

I've heard that eating celery burns more calories than it has, thus theoretically making you lose calories. Does this really work??? Any good tips??
I think the whole thing with celery is because it has such little calories, you actually burn the calories in the celery from chewing. It could just be an urban myth, but that's what I heard. I don't think it would make you lose calories, just have a net intake of 0 while eating it. (that is, if there is any credibility to it)

Mint does well for me when I get sugar cravings (and I get them often) so I usually pop a sugar free mint or drink some mint tea.

Try eating more foods with fiber or protein. They will fill you up for a longer period than quick-burning carbs will. I usually have two small apples a day for snacks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. They are packed with nutrients and the fiber holds me over till my next meal. I used to eat 100 calorie packs as snacks, but my body burned them so fast I was hungry 20 minutes later. So, either an apple, or if I have the calories to spare, a handful of nuts.

Drink water. Sometimes when you think you are hungry, you are actually thursty. Next time you think you are hungry and it's not been long since you last ate, try drinking a glass of water and see if that helps.

About the salt cravings...I dunno. Are you getting enough sodium in your regular diet (between 1500-2400 mg?)
