So, I tried a new brownie recipe
I did some subbing in my original recipe, and came up with a new one! It doesn't taste the same, which I would like it to, but will probably never be able to achieve, but it tastes pretty good.
ORIGINAL:
1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of flour
1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
6-8 tablespoons of melted butter
2 eggs
A dash of salt
NEW:
1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of flour
1/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 (or so) of unsweetend apple sauce
1 whole egg
2 egg whites (whipped)
A dash of salt
Any more suggestions? I couldn't get myself to throw out 4 egg yolks, but I tried! I also don't have any egg substitute. Is there anyway to mix in a little whole wheat flour? I've also heard about this new all-natural sweetener....

Hi!
If you wanted to experiment you could use
2/3 cup white sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar (instead of 1 cup white sugar)
1/4 cup quick cooking oats
1/4 cup flour (instead of 1/2 cup flour)
add 1/4 tsp. baking soda..
and instead of 1/2 cup of applesauce sometimes I use prunes about 8-10- boiled in some SF vanilla syrup for a few minutes then pureed in the blender. It tastes good with chocolately recipes!

Ohh, that sounds like a good idea! I don't think we have any cooking oats though... I'll ask my neighbor!
Ohh, I made another batch! This time with cream neuchaftel cheese... yuuum.
Can anyone help me with calories/carbs/fats/protein and the like? I have a program I got for free, but I don't know how accurate it is.
Anywho:
Cream Neuchaftel Cheese Brownies
Batter:
1 1/3 cup of sugar
2/3 cup of brown sugar
1/2 cup of Quaker oats (I ground them in my Magic Bullet)
1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
2/3 cup of unsweetened cocoa
1/4 teaspoon of salt (I use the Kosher kind)
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
1 cup of unsweetend apple sauce
1/4 cup of egg substitute
Cream Cheese Topping:
8 oz of Neuchaftel Cheese
1/4 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of egg substitute
Preheat oven to 350
Grease and flour a 9x13 pan
Mix all of the batter ingredients into a large bowl
Pour into pan
Blend all of the cream cheese topping ingredients in a bowl (I used my magic bullet, and it was really fluffy)
Spread on top of batter, marble to your liking
Bake for 20-30 minutes

how many brownies does the recipe yield? i'm plugging the numbers in on my form for ya.
Whoops! Forgot that part.... I think it's 24, but I might be wrong.
Yup, 24 as far as I can tell.
here's what i got for 24 servings:
Number of Servings 24 Serving Measure Serving Size 1 Calories 125.94 Total Fat 2.65 Sat Fat (g) 1.61 Cholesterol 7.33 Sodium 55.07 Total Carbs 24.82 Protein 2.43 Fiber 1.14

you could lower the calorie count even more by using splenda for the sugar (even just using half splenda and half sugar) and they also make a brown sugar for cooking, which would probably get each serving under 100 calories. i do that a lot when baking, and you really cannot tell.
Thanks!! It's not too bad, but not great. I haven't been able to get myself to use splenda yet... I might have to buy a little bag next time I'm at the store though....
