Have you tried Perfect Water?

Have you tried Perfect Water?

My sister introduced it to me, and I've been drinking it while I work out for a little while now. I don't know all the background on it, other than its supposed to be microstructured and have extra oxygen in the water - but so far I really like it. Considering that it has been over 100 degrees lately, I feel like it really keeps me hydrated better than regular bottled water. Sounds crazy, but for me I really see it helping my flexibility while I'm stretching - which is a big deal because I've never been very flexible at all!!!

Has anyone tried it? If you don't know what I'm talking about check out www.drinkperfectwater.com .

Do you feel like it helps? Has anyone heard anything about the health benefits? Or use for weight loss?

i drink tap water.  it's perfect.

Are you sure it's not just placebo effect? =/

Water's water.  Why spend an absurd amount of money on it if you don't have to?

Um, if you add oxygen to water it's no longer water.  2 hydrogens, 1 oxygen.

I did think about it possibly being a placebo effect... which is kind of why I want to see if anyone else has tried it...

As for tap water - we don't have the best quality tap water in LA, so I end up spending money on bottled water or sports drinks anyway.

And the oxygen thing totally confuses me because you are totally right H2O - like i said - i don't know all the background on it - or at least I don't understand it. LOL.

Well, I read the web site, and good lord, that was a lot of BS :)

Seen worse nonsense from the supplement industry, but yeah, tap water's just as good for you. If you're worried about water quality a water filter is like $20, or about what you'd spend on water in a week if you were to drink bottled water.

But seriously, bottled water is like the worst ripoff in consumer history - most of it is municipal tap water that's been run through a charcoal filter, had some salt added to it, and then got a 10,000% price increase. You pay a ridiculous premium for - well, nothing, basically; Consumer Reports did a lab analysis of bottled waters vs. tap water and the only detectable difference was some components of the plastic that leeched into the bottled water.

In most municipalities a tap filter is also pointless - the only saving grace is that it's at least cheaper than bottled water.

Never tried perfect water, it sounds like a gimmick to me.  I don't drink sports drinks either and I run outside in Arizona (it's like 113 today) three days a week, I wait for the sun to go down of course.  I get enough sodium in my food during the day and water always does the trick.

I'm a Brita convert, it really just improves the taste, filters out the chlorine.  I'm in AZ too and we drink water all day.  I was tired of refilling water bottles at the filtration vending machines

I have actually tried it - a friend gave me a couple bottles -  and I agree, it does make me feel more energized and flexible in my workouts. The price though, is a little ridiculous!

Reading the site, I totally agree with Melkor-- it looks like a load of crap.

HOWEVER!

My mom knows someone who sells it (or something), and they finally got her to try it.  So we bought some.  IT IS AMAZING!!  Seriously, I was the biggest skeptic EVER, but the whole flexibility thing is so true.  Try reaching over and touching your toes.  Stand with your feet together, arms straight out, and twist around as far as you can.  Then drink like 2 oz of that water, and try both things again.  Holy crap, I was practicly twisted aroudn 180 degrees, and there is no way a placebo could be THAT effective.

I'm a scientist, so naturally, I wanted to explanation.  Of course, I'm a physicist, and on principal, I naturally hate chemistry.  So, i never really figured it out.  All I know is that it's really amazing water!  haha.  :)

(but yes...VERY expensive.)

free of charge: tap water + yoga = flexibility and hydration Laughing

Crack in a bottle?

For my sins I started out in chemical engineering in college before switching to comp.sci at uni, and seriously, if what's in that bottle is responsible for what you experienced, that ain't water :)

If you studied how a body hydrates itself you might understand a bit more why this water works the way it does.

First of all most typical bottled waters at most go through zero to 7 step filtration processes.  This water goes through a 15 step process.  There are very few (if any waters that can claim that).

They add in the right minerals to ionize the water.  This allows the water to promote getting our bodies to a slightly alkaline balance vs acidic.  Many people who because of diet or improper hydration who have an acidic ph balance could drink water all day and it would do them no good.  If we are not in the right balance even if we get water into our system the cellular processes will not function right to allow the water to enter the cells to do what it is supposed to do.

Now the oxygen and microstructuring come into play.  If you get to a point where the cells are opened up and are able to deliver more water to them internally then they also will deliver more oxygen to them.  The microstructuring is a proprietery techonolgy that they have so I can't completly explain it.  What they claim is that it holds additional oxygen molucules in the water.  When you drink it a signal is sent to your brain that you have a large influx of oxygen and thus the excess oxygen is flushed into your system.  This is the effect that is causing the higher performance/flexibility in some people.

You are wrong in that water is water.  I would suggest folks do some research before they make the claims.  I am going to repost on this in the next day or so with some links to some deep and hard facts about the state of water in the US and hydration in general.  It can be as important as proper diet to drink the right water.

a placebo can definitely be that effective.

um...so?  the assumption that "impurities" in water are bad is inherently flawed.  aside from the water soluble minerals our bodies need, our immune systems depend on exposure to micro-organisms to generate immune responses.  by drinking only purified water, we jeapardize this process and leave ourselves vulnerable to infection.
What they claim is that it holds additional oxygen molucules in the water.  When you drink it a signal is sent to your brain that you have a large influx of oxygen and thus the excess oxygen is flushed into your system.

..and if this is true, isn't it also likely to signal your body that it should intake less oxygen (breathe more shallowly)?  isn't that likely to negate the effect of the overpriced water?

pete, you haven't by any chance bought the franchise, have you?
Also - the assumption that oxygen dissolved in water has any effect on your respiration is only possible if you've got actual functioning gills. Don't know about you, but I haven't got anything like that :)

Water without oxygen in it tastes stale and 'flat', but drinking suprecritically oxygenated water is no different from drinking suprecritically carbonated water - Perrier and sparkly mineral water comes to mind.

I call your started ChemE and raise you one BS in bio with a minor in chem. So now that we're both established dorks, I'll go ahead and agree with you that this concept is totally hilarious and damn near almost insulting

How about the water that I have digested and comes out my pee hole? I think it's gone through at least 15 step

Yeah, some of things things on their site just made me wonder if they we're serious a couple times.

I really enjoyed the part where they can't seem to decide if what they're doing is science or psuedo science

Or the part about being alkeline enough to affect your body, that was good too. I'm pretty sure the stomach has a pH at around 2, right? You really need to to have a pretty strong base, or drink a lot to really have a noticible effect on that, and I don't know if you'd want to, I mean the stomach's acidic for a reason.

I dunno, but I figure that our species has been around for a million years or so, and life has been around for over 4 billion years, and bottled water has been around for what, less than 50 years? I think I'll live with tap water.

And people complain about the price of gas...

I found this site looking for a way to buy this water because it's amazing. Honestly I was very very skeptical.  My boyfriend told me about it and he was sooo overly excited. I told him he was easily influenced and manipulated. He rushed me over to the sales rep who did a couple flexibility and strength tests on me.  I tried it and thought it was good tasting water but nothing special. Then the rep did the same tests again and I was pretty shocked at my flexibility and core strength.  Sounds kind of wacky, but it really is amazing water.  So my boyfriend signed up to be a distributor or something  and got a few bottles there on the spot.  I gave the water to my kids for track practice and they ran so much faster.  I drank it while golfing a couple days ago and I drove the ball at least 50 yards further and thats a lot considering my swing speed is only around 70mph. I almost don't even want to tell other people about it because I'd like to be the only one with this awesome advantage.

I hate to sound like some testimonial but it really is not a gimmic or placebo. It couldn't be.

I found this site because my guy hasn't received all of his distributor stuff so I searched Google to see if I could buy it on line somewhere.  I just HAD to comment when I saw what some people were saying about it being fake or whatever.

In closing, this is definitely water, but not ordinary water, and it IS real and does do what they say on their site. If you come across it, definitely give it a try & put it to the test.
