what is your "trouble" food?
Like, what food do you have an extra hard time saying no to?
I get sick after sweets, so they're not a problem for me.
Mine are:
Dr. Pepper - a total life long addiction
Pizza rolls - I just can't explain how disgustingly addicting these little pockets of fat are.
and white rice - I used to think "oh, its healthy!" my favorite food ever. And very high in calories too. I used to eat 2 or more cups a day. ugh.
Sometimes I wish they were never invented.
So what are yours, and how do you resist the urge?
x] Unfortunately for me, i havent ever gotten sick off of any amount of candy ever in my life that i can remember. So definately first off: Chocolate has always been a huge problem for me cuz its always around, its cheap and i am seriously addicted [or i was].
Second: probably pasta cuz again, its always around in my family and I could always rely on it when i needed to make a meal. Recently I realized i was ruining my calorie intake by adding pasta to my salads telling myself it was just as healthy and blahblahblah. SO I've decided to lay off of it for a while.
Third: Those canned soups. [especially clam chowder] =[ I cant even explain why but I used to eat two a day because i thought they were just so heavenly and i guess i was lazier.
Fourth: Any kind of chips because they're the hardest to turn down when someone offers, I always think "One chip isnt going to hurt" and i end up finishing their bag. D=
I have learned tooo try and resist by filling up on different foods and then taking a moment to ask if i really want those and think about my goals and stuff. I still reward myself with chocolate but i think i'm making a breakthro.
This turned out to be way longer than i expected it to. Sorry. :(
P.S. thanks for posting this!
yeah, I got pretty lucky with the whole "eat sugar = i feel sick" thing. But theres always a downside: I forgot the mention my addiction to sour candy. lol.
And thanks for the reply! I don't think the post was too long, actually helpful to me. I might try your strategy next time, mine is most surely not working. hehe.
Pizza rolls are horrible for me as well, I just refuse to buy them now. If I don't let them in the house, I forget about them or I can't eat them.
I have the hardest time with a bowl of cereal - I just eat them and don't care about how much is going into the bowl and then eat it really quick. I used to be really bad and eat 2 bowls a day or so. I've started to buy healthier cereals that I like still, but its still really hard to fight those urges to eat that sugary un-healthy cereal every once in a while.
Dr.pepper would be the hardest to break - it took me a long time to switch from Mountain Dew to diet, and even longer to get down to just one a week or so.
Good luck everyone, everyone's familar with foods that are super hard to resist.
thanks for the support Pengy! I understnand the cereal thing, I'm such a kid when it comes to that stuff, it has be fruity and tastey. The one time I cant say no to sugar.
My mom's homemade fried potatoes
My mom's homemade potato wedges
my mom's homemade spaghetti
Dark choccie
Cinnamon rolls
Though it's not really a bad thing that I never say no to these foods if someone offers it to me (: (Well, it's all unhealthy..but its SO yummy)
pizza, chocolate, cheese...
- Ice cream, especially if it's from Ben & Jerry's
- Anything with chocolate
- Cakes
- Apple pies
- Desserts in general
Sweet cereals and pretzels. Ugh. Those are so not allowed in the house. =P
- cereal - cold, any kind, with milk. I always want more than just one cup! I used to buy light soymilk to allow myself to indulge in two-cup splurges of cereal as a snack, alas I have stopped buying soymilk.
- coffee - black, with some sugar. The richer and darker the roast, the more likely I am to pass on the sugar altogether.
- cookies - any kind as long as they are sweet.
To curb my urge, I brush my teeth and/or rinse with mouthwash. Also, I grab two or three bottles of water to fill my stomach with something. The coffee I can just take without sugar, if I am really, really craving the caffeine.
Poptarts. I always have to share poptarts or else I eat them all. At once. @_@
Chocolate. Now, this I can moderate, and spread through out the day, but until I get my chocolate fix (ie I go days with eating nothing but chocolate during my snacks), I keep eating it through out the day. This only applies to those little "mini" and "snack size" chocolates, though.
Most "snack size" stuff I have problems with. Maybe it's just me, but my brain doesn't register those "snack size" foods as having much significant calories, so I end up eating lots of them.
Ice cream. It's even worse if it's strawberry with strawberry chunks in it. That's my favorite kind. ;-;
Donuts. Sprinkled variety or glazed, it doesn't matter. I start with one and end up eating too many!
I usually avoid the food all together. Getting out of the house or staying in my room helps me and then planning my meals in advanced will keep me on track. :)
Cheese and anything cheesy.
FOOD! I got hungry just reading your lists! Somedays it's anything that's crunchy and salty. The next it's anything gooey and sweet. There's such a tiny number of foods I wouldn't binge on: liver, kidneys, raw fish.......The rest is just a PROBLEM!!! The biggest bug bear is BREAD. LOVE IT but try NOT to eat it most days.
cookies and cakes.
V.
After morning workouts sausage patties!! Always have a craving
Peanut butter and chocolate! mmm this makes me hungry just thinking about them.
coffee
peanut butter (with banana, but usually its mostly peanut butter) is my comfort food
Cashew nuts. (They're DANGEROUS)
Ice cream. (Praline, chocolate CHUNKS, Cookie n Cream...)
Muffins.
Hot Pizza. (Thick crust, melty cheese, Yum!)
Peanut butter. (i always just say oh ill just dip my finger in a have a teeny taste, it cant hurt, and then i end up eating spoonfuls, and spoonfuls of it lol)
Cookies. (i can never seem to eat just one cookie!)
Any kind of granola/meal type bars. (Their so addicting! They don't fill me up and i always end up eating at least 3 every time i have bars, so i avoid them)
Good thing i never have these things in the house! :D
Hmm..well at the moment:
Chocolate: I hadn't eaten any since Easter last year when I gave it up for Lent, but then with it being Xmas I had a few bites and now I find it really hard to get through the day without it haha! I only ever used to like SERIOUSLY dark chocolate (like, I have a 100% cacao bar in my room) but now I like milk, and even stranger, white chocolate too :S
Liquorice: Oh my goodness it's just so good
Gingerbread! Raisins and grapes as well. Most kind of fruits and veggies to be honest - tho I guess that's not really a bad thing!
All cereals and porridge - I could live off porridge no jokes! And I'm at home at the moment and my mum has this awesome granola type thing - Jordan's Flame Raisin - and it's SO GOOD I could easily eat the whole box in one go. I don't let myself have it at Uni cos I know I would not be able to stop myself...
Can you tell I've got a sweet tooth?!?!
