trouble with overeating
im on my last 5 pounds to drop. but. lately ive had a bit of trouble with overeating. i had about 3000 calories today, and i only woke up at noon.
on days i dont go to the gym i cant control it. its not even that im hungry its that i just WANT food, so i eat it.
on days i go to the gym it is controllable, but days like today when i dont its...a mess.
what can i do to stop myself from eating when im not hungry?

I get rid of the food in the house.... nothing there, nothing to overeat on :)
No one can do that for you. It is a commitment/decision you have to make for yourself. The hardest part is willpower. Without that nothing can be done. Make sure you are eating the proper foods. Clean and balanced nutrition. Drink plenty of water. Stay away from fried food, fast foods, artificial sweeteners, simple carbs, junk food, sugary and diet foods. Don't keep junk in the house. Cut up fruits and veggies and keep then handy. If you are board exercise. Walk, lift weights, just move.

drink tea, chew some gum. Write down everything you are going to eat for that day and the times as well and post it up in front of you.
For example...
9:00 am - cereal with milk
10:30 am - apple
..... and go on from there, I find that if I write it out like that I just keep saying to myself 20 more minutes until snack/lunch/etc. Obviously that would be intense to do everyday, but for the days that you know you are going to be uncontrollable. MAKE some control. And in the meantime, here are a few things you can do to keep you occupied and away from the fridge!
1. Paint your nails
2. Read a magazine
3. EXERCISE
4. Fill out an online survey
5. Watch a movie
6. Take a shower / Exfoliate your body
7. Do Laundry / Clean the house
8. Go on myspace/facebook (if you have it)
9. Listen to music
10. GO ON CALORIE COUNTER or another advice site
11. Participate in a forum
12. Read
11. GO through/sort clothes/jewlery/make-up
12. Take a nap
13. Call an old friend
14. Do an exercise video
15. Do your hair
16. Check your email
17. Do a wordsearch/crossword puzzle
18. Put together nice outfits (especially for your vacation) sort out your closet
19. Cut out weight loss articles and make a "Healthy Notebook"
20. Find inspirational quotes
21. Search for dieting tips
22. Go for a walk / Go to the mall
good luck!
loseweight1234, you have some awesome suggestions! thank you!
i cant get rid of the food in the house. i am 19 and live with my mom brother and sister. they eat lots of junk food. i cant just throw out their food. i have tried encouraging them to eat better and it worked for a little while, but they went back to their old ways. so like it or not, im surrounded by it. and at least once a week my mom has "deep fry night" as dinner. i dont usually participate in that lol. but lately its been hard to stay focus.
thanks for your ideas!
it may sound a little weird, but i will go do something i think is gross- go clean the cat box, or clean up after the dogs, change the water in the fish tank. Scrub the floor, clean the toilet. Clean out the fridge- nothing like getting a wiff of something with green chunks on it to nip those food urges!
ahahahaha ill bet that works nicely, kawnd11. ill give that a try.
3000 calories on a sedentary day? Eesh. Yeah i'd freak out too. But I also freak out when I have 1500 cals on a pseudo sedentary day. Last night was my 5th night workout day. Which only means instead of me busting my ass hardcore I take it easy on the cardio never peaking over 128 bpm for 50 minutes versus 148 bpm I usually do.
So on my 5th day I consider it a cheat day :-) and I freaked out when I had a midnight snack of a cold turkey dog and a salad.
But none of this will kill you. But as for curing your ailment to be completely honest it has always and will always come down to will power. Good old fashioned will power. However, if that doesn't fit you try 'Energize' at Wal-Mart is is not a diuretic and will help curve cravings.

Yup...that is me!!! 8:00 rolls around and I'm eating pudding and popcorn and anything else I can get my hands on. Usuallly around 400 calories of Junk! But if I don't eat it, I can't stop thinking about it! My problem is if I have one I keep on going. One pudding snack...okay, but three...mixed with coolwhip and topped with whipped cream...NOT OKAY!!!

I tried I new technique. Ha. When I get hunger pangs in the middle of the night I pop a Tamazepam and pass right out. Beat it to the punch. (Not a crackhead - have prescription)
LOL.....
i was diagnosed with depression about 8 years ago (but i'm all good now....it's a day to day thing ya know..) and i think i might have some temazepam somewhere in my medecine cabinet...
k-loo - i hear that cool whip light counts for 1 point on the weight watchers system....i have no idea what that means (friend in using weight watchers, not i) but it sounds promising ;)
