Trouble with Recipe Analyzer
Has anyone had trouble the last few days with the recipe tool failing to recognize stuff you know is in the database, such as olive oil or maple syrup? I've had trouble with both of those. And using the id numbers isn't working anymore either. Is it just me? This is really frustrating as I make almost all my own food (no prefab stuff when I eat in and I only eat out 1-2 times a week MAX). If you have secrets, I want to hear them!
It doesn't find a lot of stuff by itself... whenever I enter a recipe there's a bunch of stuff it can't find, so I click on one of the items that it HAS found for me and that pops up a new window, and then I do a quick search of the database for the rest of the ingredients and collect the numbers that way.
eg. 'scrambled eggs - 2 eggs, 1 oz grated cheese, 1 oz virginia ham (etc.) It will probably only find the eggs, so I click on the green flag and it opens up a new window with the egg information. Check that that looks right, then type 'cheese' into the search box and cut-and-paste the number from the URL back into your recipe. And so on for the rest of the ingredients. Then click the 'analyse recipe' box again and it'll refresh the recipe and hopefully have everything right. It sounds a lot more timeconsuming than it actually is once you're used to doing it...
I haven't had any problem with the ID numbers not working...
The ID number is the last bit of numbers at the end of the URL after "i", right? It used to work, but in the last couple of days it has actually had the nerve to not recognize olive oil! What the heck!
I just tried it out and had no problem entering 4 tbs olive oil or with using an item number. I hope it was just a glitch and that you are ok with it now. If you're still having trouble, you can PM me the exact entries and I'll try to help you.
I just had the same thing happen with flour and sugar while trying to enter a recipe. Also wouldn't enter for me even when using id number, so must be some kind of glitch.
I was having the same issue last night, it was annoying me to say the least :)
I'm having trouble with this as well. I can get it to work (sort of) by putting in the database number, but what if there are different sizes for the same number. For instance, I can't get it to recognize margarine and when I put the database number in, there are at least 3 different size options. This is frustrating, to say the least.
I can't get it to recognize a teaspoon of olive oil (or canola oil) or a tablespoon of whole wheat flour, even with the brackets. Anyone know if this will be fixed? I appreciate this tool a lot and use it all the time!
Could you PM me the exact wording you are using? I'm having no problem at all, but I'd like to help you with this. If you can copy and paste what you entered that would help. If you actually entered a recipe, a link to it would help. I've gotten pretty good at troubleshooting the Recipe Analyzer.
